17 Fusion Sport

Used to have a 93 SHO, 97 SHO, and a 12 fusion sport over the years. This is my daily car.

Mods were:
Ultimate performance intercooler
livernois 100 octane tune (used for the runs - daily on the 93 tune)
Drop in AFE filter

Timeslip and video of run below below. I launched it at around 2000rpm and rolled into the throttle. Very smooth. My other runs were a 12.7 and 12.8.

We have a speedway gas station about 15mi away that has Sunoco gt260 100 octane. I used to use it for my Cobra before I switched it to E85. Rare to find 100 at the pump these days.

Larry has one too. We most likely own the only 2 within northern IL. I rarely ever see one.

The Fusion is really the size of the original Taurus (and SHO).

Today's Taurus should have been the new Crown Victoria, and the Fusion should have been the Taurus. The Fusion would have made a better SHO.

I agree, the fusion would have made a bit more sense for a performance AWD sedan since it’s a few hundred pounds lighter without sacrificing much interior space.

That being said I think the SHO kept up with the times in terms of size. Yes it’s a bit larger than the first few generations but look at the Fox body 5.0 mustangs compared to the 5.0s today. They about twice the size. The Taurus simply got bigger with time just like the rest of Ford’s vehicles.

I haven’t been in a first gen SHO in close to a decade but compared to standard sedans from the early 90s, it was still a fairly large car. Just a different point of view. I absolutely love the trunk space in my 2015.

Actually, the newer Mustangs really aren't that much bigger than the old Fox bodies. Ford has done an outstanding job of keeping the Mustang "look" after all these years.

I dunno. I believe that, if any one Detroit car mfr survives, it will be Ford. They occupy a different space with the family involvement. There's some GM people in one of my circles, who have worked for GM for awhile. They have critically remarked that GM is working on its 2nd bankruptcy.
