I realize this is a very old thread, but THIRTY MPG??? My SHO is still bone stock and I'm averaging around 18. How in the actual **** are you getting 30?? Is there something wrong with my car?
Nope just a manufacturer meeting epa standards, once it meets it they mass produce. It's a hoop they need to hit, not that they care.

I am not and never have got 30 from this platform. I am currently at 22-24 depending on how I drive and the season. 18 is a little low but with a tune and some maintenance, you can up it. Try running some SeaFoam through the fuel. Make sure you are using Top Tier premium gasoline. You can also rum CRC Turbo/Intake or SeaFoam intake cleaner just in front of the throttle body to clean up the intake/valves.

Thank you both very much for the replies! I've got a TopTier station a few blocks from home. I'll start filling up there from now on. And I'll try the SeaFoam this weekend! New plugs are also on the horizon. Appreciate the feedback!

I got 31 once on a road trip from ohio to new york city. Was tuned by a company i won't mention, no other mods. Drove 55 pretty much entire way, never passed a single car. Maintained 30 plus all the way til I got off freeway in new york, then after about 4 miles of driving on city streets it went down to like 27. Hand calculation was within a tenth of a mpg of what display read when I filled up.

High mpg is possible, but it is not fun to drive like that.

Yeah, that sounds miserable. But I do also like some good fuel economy. I think the absolute best I've ever done in this car is averaging around 20, but I was doing a LOT of freeway driving. I've definitely got a tune coming very soon.

It was my first road trip not long after I bought the car. Every vehicle I own I will do this with just so I know what the absolute top end of mpg is.....but then I quickly decide that the money I save by driving that speed is not even close to worth being in the vehicle and on the road for the extra time.
