I rode it's your first car, congratulations for your SHO, it's very hard to find one in Canada in good shape, rusted as **** often. I remember that I have a discussion with a lady in Saskachewan one year ago who have identical one to yours (a green 97). One day maybe, we will have a canadian chapter for Gen 3.

Don't make the error that some/many tryed. This car isn't a muscle car, trying to transform it into this can simply **** it. Don't hope going beyond a 20% bonus in power (beyond 270 hp). However, you can improve the handling in a great way. At this age, maintenance upgrade are a priority (including welding the cams, the #1 priority). You will not able to follow your father in his Mustang but yours can have a better handling (at least with a suspension tuning) and probably a better confort (one of my friend have a 2010 stang and I don't like sitting in it, seems not made to taller guy, can be different for 2017...).

Your channel is a good idea, will be usefull at least for Gen 3 owners. Some time ago, I bought the kit send to the owners who bought these SHO new from Ford (US only ?) with an offert to a learning lesson in driving these SHO. In this kit, there is a promo video for the Gen 3 SHO... (well, it's not very usefull but it's very comic, gen 1 and 2 guys will probably laught a lot but who cares ?). One of my friends take the CD and convert it in mp4 IIRC. It's the kind of thing you searching for ?

If you need info, we will be glad to help you,

Hey thanks, i appreciate the input, ye thought i would bring it to this forum, since i was thinking on joining anyways. i understand your concerns about me trying to make it into a muscle car, that isnt the objective of this car for me, i just love the way it sounds and how it feels like it constantly wants to be pushed to the limits, cant wait to get it tuned since that is the future plan, and thanks fore the heads up, will prolly shoot for around 170ish HP. it honestly is such a cool car and cant wait to work on it and drive it all the time.
and the previous owner did already weld the cams, so i am set.
thanks for the help though.

Great info/advice from your fellow Canadien: Ensure cams are welded or have them done (if they're not done, don't think they can't go even this late in the game!)
In addition:
1. Trans-go shift kit (takes some work, but worth it if you plan on keeping car; and get a Gen 2 trans cooler and a thermostat for trans oil if not already present)
2. Catch can setup (lower intakes get dirty quickly with stock setup, which is basically what kills the IMRC. Maybe with less humidity it isn't as much an issue as here)
3. Typical oil leaks occur (in increasing repair difficulty): cam seal @ water pump, oil cooler & attached hoses, crank seal (aka front main), valve covers, rear main

Beyond these, you can dig around and find beefier sway bars (shosource is a good place for these and more) and you probably already have the aluminum sub frame bushings - I'd be amazed if not. Never too late to Porterize and pop a K&N panel into air box too! (search this site and v8sho.com for "porterized intake" - very simple actually)

Hey 98sf19, the cams are welded already by the previous owner, i appreciate the concern though. and i will look into those mods and maintenance. i do have a K&N panel in the air box, and i believe i have the aluminum sub frame as well. will look into those other mods etc. thanks

I actually had been thinking about doing some video's on common repairs for the SHO as well. I hadn't started anything yet, but I was thinking of doing some stuff along the same lines as "ChrisFix" where you couldn't see the person (just glove covered hands) that way multiple people could provide input and you would think it would be the same person every time.

Sorry for the seriouness of my message, I helped a guy (in Wyoming) last spring who modified his car a lot and have some problem to rebuilt his motor (he blew one of the cam probably because of these). I spend many hour to help him finding and sending infos to him and he promess me some parts for the help in exchange. He rebuilt it but with no good results and finnaly scraped the car... What a loss of time and I never see the parts mentionned. Anyway.

You said you want to roll with it all the time, I suggest you to roll with it all the summer(s) long and store it somewhere for winter. Winter will greatly accelerate the frequency of repairs. Then you will not roll all the time with it but you will roll longer with it. :)

Mine has been retired now since Dec 2012 to just being a summer car and taking it to Show & Shine cars shows and such. Over the winter I start it up and get it at least to operating temp for the oil at the beginning of each month, and, if the roads are decent, at the same time take if for a ride of half a dozen miles or so, just to keep everything loose and moving as it should. Then it goes back into the car/wood shed and the battery gets hooked back up to the solar panel charger for another month. This seems to work well for keeping away non-use problems, but I do think the AC is beginning to pack it in from lack of use and that will need to be addressed.
