Thanks, seems funny I never had any issues with anything here until St. Louis SHO stirred this thing up...don't really know why. Anyway, thanks to all the guys that have be very helpful with Gen 4 info and I really hope someone puts the anger and smart a** comments to bed. But after the response that "automatics suck" I don't expect much intelligent discussion after that....
Thats just Jim. He has this idea that nothing in the world is greater than the CTSV and the CTSV is the best car ever made. Despite the one I owned with the 25 thousand problems that everyone else had, and GM had no idea how to fix, and probably still doesnt, he still thinks its great.

This is a great community. Just a few thick headed members try to ruin it for everyone else. As a gen 4 owner, I still dont really feel welcome here.

You are welcome here, James was just pointing out that there is more to this community than the Gen 4 forum.

Well, Mr. Revisionist History, I made a simple statement that I wouldn't buy a SHO because they don't offer a manual transmission. It was a pretty simple statement that for some reason you couldn't understand. If you can't decipher a snarky statement from an unintelligent one, I'm sorry for you.

It is a great community! & there will always be those that 'stir the ***' which is always entertaining to say the least, you just can't take anything to heart that you read over the internet. I just think we here at SHOforum have fewer 'as hats' than other forums!
& Welcome in way2evil!!

Gee, I can't figure out why anyone wouldn't want to be on the other forums. These guys are turning out to be like to old SHO's---Outdated.

So offering a manual transmission is being outdated? Because last I checked, many true enthusiast vehicles are offered with one. So sorry yours isn't.

Just because I didn't hold your pacifier while you drowned the V boards with your drivel doesn't mean I think the V is perfect. I'm sorry my V has been relatively trouble free while the world came crashing down on yours. Last I checked, there were 2 recent buybacks on the Gen 4. No car is perfect. But yes, I love my manual transmission, 630hp '09 CTS-V. Good to see your rep as a whiner and complainer wasn't restricted to the V forums...

And another thing, I owned a '92 SHO for 10 years and have been, and continue to be, a part of the SHO community. I go to meets. I go 1/2 way across the country for SHO BBQs. I go to National Conventions. It's never been strictly about the car here, it's about the people. Do you see me talking a whole lot about my cars here? Do you see pics of my V here? Well, I've seen you trumpeting your collection. Again, I love my V. I don't think I'm any better because of it. You should try the same.

You know I asked a simple question as to why you didn't like an automatic, expecting a reasonable response, thinking perhaps that you would explain why you preferred the manual trans. Sorry for asking a reasonable question, and no I don't expect a response because frankly, I really don't care anymore this has turned out to be a pretty hostile spot from guys that I thought had a considerable amount of knowledge about the earlier gen SHO's but as of now I really could care less, I'll stay here with the guys that have been very friendly and helpful. And now, although I was considering it, I will not be making any attempt to make any SHO convention, thanks to the attitude put forth in this thread.

Jim you've proven time and time again your brand loyalty and smugness. You have shown your true colors in the past and your hate for anyone who does not see the world exactly as you do. So tell me, has GM found a fix for the wheel clicking yet?

And another thing, I owned a '92 SHO for 10 years and have been, and continue to be, a part of the SHO community. I go to meets. I go 1/2 way across the country for SHO BBQs. I dont think I am better than anyone else. Fortunately for me I have worked hard to earn the things I have, if that makes me proud so be it. Just because I have the things I do does not make me think I am better than anyone else. And trumpeting my collection? Yes, I put pictures of my cars in the "show your other cars" thread (that I did not start by the way).

The fact you are a part of the SHO community is great. For me, I really dont care you go to the conventions.

Actually, he was being sarcastic. There aren't [sarcasm] tags (believe me I've asked), so it gets missed sometimes.

Anyway, I see a lot of folks looking too hard at things and picking fights as a result where it isn't necessary. Think everyone needs to lighten up just a bit before this thread goes completely off the rails.

And mjhpadi, I'm not sure what your deal is, but you didn't need to take a dig at the rest of us and our "outdated" SHO's. In the end, we're an enthusiast community, whether it be the old SHO's or the new; there's no need to segregate ourselves from one another because of what MY we each own.

And since we're being completely honest here, you should know that it was the effort of the "outdated" members of this community who went through great pains to convince Ford that now was time for the new SHO to come back. We were the ones who plastered Ryan's site ( http://www.bringbackthesho.com ) everywhere we could as often as we could to drum up interest in the possibility of a new SHO. We were the ones who sat in the focus groups when Ford took notice and asked "we see what you did there. We have this so far, what would you, as enthusiasts, like to see in the end product?" and answered their questions. We were the ones who posted up someone's blurry ninja cellphone photo of the 2010 Taurus SHO model two years prior to it's debut, and had the whole automotive world collectively say "holy shit, that's a Taurus?" within hours of posting the thread.

(again, sorry about that Ford...)

We could have just as well been content in being one of Ford's orphans, but we weren't, and as a result Ford went off and developed what is by almost all accounts one **** of an answer to the 1999 SHO.

Yeah, I know, maintaining a car is a *****. When your brick is out of warranty, are you going to sell it once you have to start maintaining out of pocket?

Kept my Denali XL till it had 85K. It was at the point where I either drove it till it dropped or traded. Had whining noises in AWD system that worried me. Will Keep Brick for around 3-4 years or 75 K unless......

As for warranty.... may already have compromised that issue! :dribble: Just hope Brick never turns into an "Old Ford" "Fix...Or....Repair.....Daily"....:laugh_ti::laugh_ti::laugh_ti:

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend all of you guys who have done some pretty darn impressive stuff with the SHO's...I know there's a lot of great stuff out there and you guys have worked hard to get Ford to bring the SHO back (thanks), but again, I'm finished with this I apologize to those I've offended, but quite honestly, my outlook on this whole forum sure has changed in the past few days. I came here for and exchange of ideas, no more of this thread as far as I'm concerned, and again, for those of you older SHO owners, I'm sorry for the smart comment.

How to Avoid Being a Forum Troll and How to Avoid "Feeding" One
By Lawrence N

Instructions.1.1
The first step to not being a forum troll is to avoid disagreeing with every single thing that is posted by other people. On all forums, a variety of ideas and opinions are shared. It is statistically impossible that you disagree with every single one of them, or conversely, that you cannot find one single thing that you agree with.

There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with what someone writes, and indicating so in a polite manner. However, if you want to avoid being labeled a troll, you'll need to devote at least some of your postings to positive comments, or to ones that agree with other people.

2.2
Don't participate in forums which are devoted to specific topics that do not interest you. For example, if you don't like Rachael Ray, don't participate in a fan forum about her by posting a message which says, "RR is ugly, chubby, and a sellout." Such a statement can only be construed as trolling, since it will almost certainly anger most or all of the other forum participants.

3.3
Don't start fights with known troublemakers on forums, or with people who are known to be quick to anger. While such people are not necessarily trolls, they are still best left alone, no differently than you would try to stay out of the way of a schoolyard bully. If you intentionally egg someone on who you know will cause trouble in return, you are a troll.

4.4
Don't initiate topics that have either been "beaten to death," or that are simply moot. For example, it would be troll-like behavior on eHow to start a thread titled, "Another day with late earnings." It is not a question, and it is not a suggestion. It is just stirring up negativity for its own sake.

Similarly, don't start threads that are simply moot, even if they aren't negative. An example would be joining a Britney Spears fan forum and starting a thread titled, "Brit is pretty." Almost everyone on the forum probably already thinks so. The thread serves no purpose other than to derail other discussions that are taking place.

5.5
Don't start any topics which you know will cause a great deal of controversy for its own sake. On eHow, an example might be starting a thread titled, "Suggestion: Award bonus points for articles that teach how to commit hate crimes." That is very different than posting thread titled, "Suggestion: Ban members who have no writing talent." While such a thread may be somewhat negative in nature, it still has some merit, and has a goal which could be construed as ultimately positive and something worth at least debating.

6.6
One simple way to avoid being labeled a troll is to have a complete profile filled out for yourself on the site you are contributing to, and have at least some track record of making some positive contributions to the site. Most trolls are operate completely anonymously on websites. This is to some extent due to their inherent cowardice, but is also a result of the fact that they like to quickly bounce from one website to another, so they have little time to establish themselves as a contributing member on any one of them.

7.7
Don't spread personal opinions or conjectures as though they are fact. Don't intentionally spread false information knowing that members will be inclined to correct you. Don't post messages that cause people to worry or get angry unnecessarily. Don't post generic trite sayings that serve no purpose. Don't call out other trolls if you yourself are one.

8.8
If you follow all of these steps, you will likely avoid being classified as a troll on forums. Just operate with good intentions, and contribute to online communities in the same way that an upstanding citizen would contribute to a non-Internet "actual" community.

9.9
Finally, learn the one very simple step to getting rid of forum trolls. They simply must be completely and totally ignored, by you and by everyone else. Understand that if a troll gets any response whatsoever to his/her postings, that will be enough motivation for him/her to continue. This is the case even if the troll posts something seemingly positive in nature, and people post messages in agreement.

The troll's goal is only to derail, stir up trouble, and divert attention to him/herself. If every single non-troll agreed to totally ignore all trolls as though their posts were invisible, Internet trolling would become a thing of the past.

As far as I am concerned everyone makes mistakes and deserves a second or even third chance, unless your name sach then you're just doomed here. I look forward to future conventions and meeting more people like I did this year in Michigan what FVckin blast! That includes all Gens from 1 to 4 and gaining new friends and people to call family in the SHO Community..
