By the way, the air is just kind of crammed into both intake ports, right?
I don't even know how to phrase the question, shouldn't the air come in in a certain pattern, or will it pick up that pattern by the time it gets down the ports?
Know what I'm saying. I guess I could say, didn't the snakes do some shaping/rearranging of the air, before it went into the tops of the cylinders? Or maybe I could say, will you smoothe out the edges of the holes leading to the intake ports (make them more funnel shaped) for smoother airflow?

Tyler knows my mechanical knowledge, and he's probably saying something like, "OK, this guy is asking me about airflow on a new blower set-up. He lost NINE head bolts when he pulled his heads off!"
Yup, that's me. And we're moving into a house, so I'm sure I'll find them when I clean out the garage. Let me get a feel for the new neighbors, and I'll gladly host a get-together, especially for this. Your car gets the driveway!

A roots blower negates the need for different length runners. The reason for the different lengths is for air velocity of a N/A engine. When you are running positive PSI, there really is no need for it, just bigger openings into the cylinders so you can cram more air in.

So, the air just gets "rammed" into that box and goes where ever it wants too? I suppose the butterflies are sitting directly under the lower intake manifold so that keeps everything under control. That way you can just push air in there and not worry about air entering the wrong parts of the intake.... I was taking used that idea, but throw a stant of the front of that manifold. and bolt on the SC at an angle, having the bottom of the SC pretty mouch touching the oil cap. Might not be enough room to clear a stock hood, but defineatly enough for a cowl and maybe even a power bulge....

I was thinking of getting out of SHO's, but this might change my mind. :evil_gri: I doubt I'll be identically copying his ideas, but defineatly modifying them. I could care less about the intake. Blower makes up for the lost looks....

No, he's removed the intake with the associated buterflies. The plenum he built attaches directly to little stubs of the runners which then bolt to the heads. The air is forced into and therefore pressurizes the plenum. That compressed air sits there and waits for a set of intake valves to open. He could still do a small chamfer job on it if he wants the absolute best airflow, but in this situation and at this level, I don't think it's really necessary.

What a great accomplishment. You know right now that the bidding has gone up on every Eaton on E-Bay and all the for sale signs taken down off the old SHOs sitting in the driveway.

You may be able to mount the chopped up intake runners inside the lower manifold (like a certain BMW model I cant think of) to drop the setup down another 3" or so. Maybe then it would fit under the stock hood.

Hey Tyler, How tall is the motor with the SC on top?

Will a Cincy SHO Hood work, or will they have to come out with a special hood to contain this beauty?

Stock intake runners look about as tall as his custom manifold anyways, so they blower would still be up about that high...

first of all i would like to say **** of a job i would like to see it in action - but as far as buying it unless you could fit it under the cincycowl then i would have to (altough it would be hard) say no.

but it should scare some unexpecting gm's

but i ask you all - is it still a SHO? i don't know

Keep this thread clean, please. And lay off the "its not a sho" any more. A 400hp centrifugally supercharged sho is as much a sho as this car is, which in turn is as much a sho as toolmans car. So lets not go that whole silly debate route.

awsome stuff. I love to see when people in this community totally custom make their own products or modifications. I think this is what sets us apart from any other car community. I want to see some dyno numbers though before i can start praising and getting excited. Awsome job!

Very nice work.

Gotta see some dyno plots, though. ;)

Of interest: boost levels, a/f ratios, etc., etc.

Any thoughts to share detailed plans or build a few sets of the plenums for the community?
