Doesn't it suck when you find something like the caked MAF wire, you get all excited that you found the problem... Then after fixing it, the problem is still there?

Damn cars... ;)

Yes, my cams are welded.

nik97- I planned on hooking it up the WDS tomorrow, but now i know were to look. thanks! Coincidentally, I did a search to find out what CMP was, and the first thread i read sounded exactly like what i am experiencing. Particularly the thing about it doing it on hot days.
Given that WDS reveals this is the problem, ill probably have to special order the part and it wont arrive until next week. Would i be able to drive it through the weekend without any problems?

JoesSHO- yes it does suck. not only did the problem go away it got much worse. Gotta love it when that happens

Both the crank and cam sensors are easy to change and available at any part store. It is the same thing the Duratec uses. For the $50 in parts you could buy both and change them and still be $50 ahead of what the dealer will charge you for the WDS interrogation.

So. i finally got around to doing the fuel pressure test yesterday. I borrowed a gauge from a technician, but the only fittings he had were for the valve located directly on the fuel rail. so thats where i connected it.
Started the car and read a steady 32 psi. I thought it might be a clogged filter resulting in the low pressure, so going to change it just in case. Then I turned the car off, and it went down very gradually over the next minute or two until i disconnected it at 29psi. This rules out the FPR so I guess its my fuel pump? Whats my next step/test?
Was this test done with the vacuum line from the FPR to the surge tank connected or disconnected? If disconnected, your fuel pressure is way low. If you left it connected you need to test it again with it disconnected (and the vac ****** on the surge tank plugged).

My car had a stumble at idle a couple of weeks ago. It would go up and down in the revs and then **** itself. So I just would start it again and it ran perfect. Usually it ran strange after it had sat in the sun for a period of time after it had been up to operating temp.

Already had a new crank sensor put in in June. Might be the cam sensor, who knows. Hasn't acted up pry close to a month now.

I hope everything turns out and it's something fairly simple. :thumb: (Hard to believe with newer cars)

I just finished installing the CMP(cam positioning sensor) and took it for a test drive. No luck. It feels better than this morning but is still acting up.
My throttle response is VERY delayed from a stop, and feels like its missing some uumph all the way through the rpm band. and i can still feel the power loss when the secondaries open. whats next? crank sensor?

BTW im pretty sure i have an extra functional CMP if anyone needs one.

Now I'm not sure...when the car finally starts, it really smells like raw fuel. I am not sure, maybe it is flooding.

I get this now and then. It typically gets this way when I try to start it cold, and I poorly anticipate when the first cylinder will fire. Then I have to try starting it again, and it acts like it's flooded. More than likely there is little wrong with your car, just a quirk of fuel injected cars.
