Turns out it's the other idler pulley beneath the one I suspected, the vibrations must have traveled through the block and up into the bolt I was using with the stethescope. I couldn't check the other, but I know now when I'm going to check the bearings for wear, I'm going to take the pullies off first, I spun it by hand it made a metallicy worn out bearing noise, like taking two pieces of iron and just scraping them against one another here and there. So I assume it's that one. I don't see that one being sold anywhere so.. I assum I'm screwed? I mean it looks hard to get in with having to press in both the bearing and the other part in the center. Maybe I could look up the NSK number and ask the company if they have it?

Oh, and off of the top of their heads, does anyone know what number it is? Like the one for the idler is BD20-15DWA. Thanks! Just asking so maybe I don't have to go and take it off to find out.

That's where I got the wrong bearing from, I couldn't find the larger bearing under the 60k area of the catalog.

I'ts the same one but you need an inner sleave for it to fit. Made that mistake when replaceing the tensioner pulley. You can just find another pulley and just replace it instead. It cost me just as much as buying a bearring and having it pressed .

I'm sorry but I've looked at the bearing in that idler pulley and it's in no way the same bearing. I'm talking about the idler pulley that has a squared off edges. The one between the A/C and the crank.

Have same problem

Hey Dragon, I just replaced my Alternator and at same time realized my AC idler Pulley is "Kaput" as well. That is one serious Bearing. I went to Ford Parts Online and they have the one listed for about $88. My friend who is helped me just happens to work for a Applied Industrial Technologies and he called in NSK Bearing# this morning. We measured and it has like a 35mm center and 55mm diameter. I am thinking it will cost around $20 for bearing. I will post if and when I get call-back to see if available.

Your friend will likely find that NSK sells the bearing only to Ford on an exclusive basis.

I would be happy to hear otherwise.

I'd really like to hear about it if you guys can get ahold of a few. I'm in Florida right now, the bearing made it fine, barely heard the whining while i was driving there. Makes me wonder if it was just needing a good long drive to make it stop. It's still whining now that it's stopped down here here for a while, so don't worry, it's not locking up or anything. But if there's any news on the bearings that'd be cool. And if anyone has the A/C idler pulley I wouldn't mind getting one, one that's rather fresh and doesn't whine.
