Well food for thought: when I first started tuning i used ExxonMobil gas because I could get it for free....my car had knock issues on unleashed. So I added torco and it helped. Then I tried bfs and I didn't think gas could be the problem because both places gave me issues. Well finally I switched to sheetz gas and unleashed thought I was still using torco lol

Point being gas varies a lot. I never tested my e-content, but id say its probably 81-85 because ive never had any spark pulled since switching to full e85.

TL;DR SHEETZ GAS RIPS!!!!!
I dealt with the exact same problems. For months I hit up a different 93 pump every time I filled up. Tried every brand. It's not the gas.

Im a little late to the party here, but back on track.

I'm tuned by gearhead, and haven't had any revisions since the initial tune. All I really have for mods so far is catless PPE downpipes, and msd coils. I've been on the list for a gearhead intercooler since February, but that'll definitely be next.

Gearhead has been great for the little interaction I have had so far. I had an issue with knock at first, but adding e85 to my gas has solved that. I personally think my ao tune is setup for slightly higher than 93, since even with 93 around me I still get too much knock without adding about 2 gallons of e85. The shifting though is amazing and the consistent power is great.

I'd say my only con is that they leaned pretty heavy on the bad gas thing for the knock issue. I feel like something else is afoot if no matter what I have to add e85 everytime.

I am super interested in how xsport is going to do a full e85 setup. I don't even want it for pushing max power out of it so much as I want the convenience of filling up with one pump. On that note I had started looking at making a walbro pump work that could flow enough for e85, but that is very cursory research so far.

Lol, yeah this is an ongoing dilemma. I'm aware of the shortfalls and limits. Especially with the parts I have. I'm working a surge tank solution with either dual 450s or seeing if I can work with a single 525. Issue I'm running into is the PWM returnless system and how to integrate it properly into the current system. The Fuel Pump Control Module will likely not handle the current required to run those large pumps, but the issue is that it also sends event notifications (vehicle collision, etc) to the pump so a simple replacement will not work. I'm working on an SSR solution, but would prefer one that has higher resolution than 100Hz....but then cost comes into play...all this is only on paper currently, btw...

I'm really trying to create a surge tank solution that works inline with OEM as the old style FPR and adding a return system creates other issues.

How about running a return line but instead of a regulator use a solenoid tapped to the PWM signal for the pump?

I'm trying to visualize what you are suggesting. Are you suggesting this in conjunction with the surge tank fuel pumps? If so, you still need a controller with enough ass behind it to push those pumps, especially at lower duty cycles. Where would this solenoid be plumbed? And with a return system, you can't get away from regulating fuel pressure as that is what dictates how much fuel is returned. Not to mention you'd need a solenoid that is PWM compatible. And to be honest, I don't really like the idea of returning fuel to the tank. This would have to happen all before the HPFP, as you can't return fuel in our GTDI engines from the fuel rail, pressures are way too high.

Anyway, I am aware that this project is quickly running away from my level of expertise, so I've been reaching out to a few sources to assist, but it's still an interesting hurdle. And I'm always open to working this issue with anybody who can help, so feel free to hit me up offline, don't want to get too off topic here. I was going to open this up to the board when I was a bit closer, but I've got so many coals in the fire, I'm a bit all over he place.

Has been awfully quiet around here since he's gone MIA.

Not sure if his departure was voluntary, or forced.

I think he’s still lurking...under a different screen name....a new member that joined Wednesday talks very similar to him. But I could be wrong

1st tuning experience.
LMS.
Pros.
* Plug and play.
* Strong off the line.

Cons.
*Plug and play. No customizing for your car.
*Shifting was brutal on the hard shift tune, still harsh on the soft shift. Didn't get any better til the V11 fix.
*Car felt out of breath past 4k RPM.
*A lot of performance left on the table.
*Felt unsafe in cold weather, even in 70 plus I had a spark plug **** itself on a WOT pull when it encountered hesitation.

Some of the performance issues might have been due to the dieing HPFP but either way other users reported the same issues.

2nd tuning expierence.
Ortiz.
Pros.
*Safe customized tune. Found my dieing HPFP.
*A lot more power on the top end. Pulls strong all the way through the RPMS. Shifts at 6100ish.
*Shifting when WOT is a dream. Fast direct shifts.
*Car is smooth. No hesitations. Can feel the boost build and hold.
*Very friendly.

Cons.
*Down Shifting in low speed situations in traffic sometimes are rough. Nothing that has me concerned but they can be on the rougher side. Had them make an adjustment to my low speed shifting points to make it smoother throughout town.
*You have to data log. (Is this even a con?)

Dont regret jumping ship in the slightest. I love my car again.

Main reason I went to lms was because I didn't need to data log. Best plug and play option at the time for a "real" tune

God, I hate that place...with a disdain I can never properly convey over the internet...I wouldn't shit in a bucket for those guys.

I'll pass..lol.

I mean to be honest, I followed @bpd1151 for a long time. He pretty much had the car since they came out. He always had good to say about them. I tuned with them in 2017. And just like within a year he had problems with them. Cant really blame me there. I couldn't find any issues on forums for lms back in 2017 that I can remember.
So that I why I tuned with them.

I wanted to be like Mike lol

There's probably thousands of people's shos that don't have forum accounts who saw what he made of his car and went with lms also. Maybe not directly but it helped them find lms. I didn't know who they were before hand. Not singling him out, there were others. But he had probably 700hp at the crank and that was awesome.

Yeah, I wasnt on any boards for a really long time while I had this car but still modified it as much as I could. I fell for the LMS trap early on, but lost the love around their V6 or 7...

Isn't the GH AO tune for 87-94 octane?

Could that be the reason that you have to throw in a few "e's" to get from 93 to 94 octane?

It made sense in my head, but then again, it's a really weird place in there (my head) so I might be way off.
