Particularly in the gen.3?
I know there is: CD-R, CD+R, CD-RW...
Does it matter?

Shouldn't this be in the Gen 3 section? Anyhow, never had a problem with Gen 3's not playing, the older stock systems, yes...

Never tried a CD-RW though...

No such thing as a CD+R as far as I know. I've never had a problem playing CD-Rs in any CD player. CD-RW are another story. Stick to CD-Rs. They're cheap enough to throw away when you're sick of them.

naughty naught, you shouldn't be pirating copyriighted CD's or asking how or if they work here

:)

Of course I'm the last person to talk about copyright violations I haven't paid for a movie in 2 years :)

oh no no no no

see we make CD-R's cause we LOST our original copies, but still had them backed up on our PC's...

but if you want to have some real fun, get a headunit that decodes MP3 discs...then you can make a CD with a lot of those songs from lost cd's :D

Yes, everyone is correct about CD-R's working. It actually has more to do with the format (wav, mp3, etc.) used to rip the music files than the disc itself. CD-RW's will not work in about 95% of cd players due to the different coating (than CD-R) on the disc which allows it to be rewritten. Like others have suggested, just stick with CD-R's which are very cheap and will almost always work in car cd players.

According to copyright laws, you're entitled to make copies of your own disks for archival purposes. :thumb: I'm sure that's what he's referring to. ;) ;) *wink wink* *nod nod*

I've found that just about any CR-R burned at 1x speed will work in just about any CD player built since around 1990. They key is to burn them at 1x, no faster. I have all CD-R's burned at 1x in my stock '97 changer and they work perfectly (and they worked in the stock players in both my '92 and '94 perfectly too).

Really?! I burn them at all different rates, depending on the PC I use of course, never have had any problems with ones burned at like 24X for example...

I've found that if I use really cheap CDs (like Office Depot brand) I get a lot more skipping on bumpy roads.

If I use a high quality "music CD" it plays as well as normal CDs, which skip rarely even on beat-up Cincinnati freeways. Of course, they cost a little more.

I burn them all at 12x and have never noticed a difference. I'll have to try the 1x burn with my cheapo discs and see if that helps. I just hate having to wait 45 minutes for a CD to burn. lol
