what new problem now

driving home a couple of hours ago, i get on a street so i can floor it and go fast...well in 3rd gear around 3200-4200 rpm the car will slow down acceleration and skip then come back to life...all the other gears are fine and dont do that...so is my 3rd gear going bad...i just put a clutch in like 6000 miles ago and its not slipping...i cant hear any different noises from my engine that hasnt been there before..its a 92mtx...all new spark plugs and wires, fuel filter...so im at a loss here

--update 1,2,3 gears from 4000rpms-6000rpms...significant loss of power, serious engine bog downs...otherwise fine

Perhaps your secondary intake runners are not opening at 4000 rpm. When revving the motor from the engine compartment, you can easily see the butterflies opening when it revs that high. Ensure all the vacuum lines are hooked up and not broken.

Ive had similar problems with the engine bucking and surging under light throttle. I have tried a lot of things to fix it but the one that seem to help the most was cleaning the idle air control. Clean your MAF sensor. If you don't believe me, simply unplug it.
