To test with an ohm meter, jumper the test connector just as you would when doing the self test. One end of the wire or clip ot the signal return and the other goes to the small STI connector. The ohm meter is connected by connecting the positive lead to the positive battery connector. The negative lead goes to the self test out pin in the large connector. That would be the 2nd pin from the left on the bottom of the large test connector. Technically this is pin #4 of the test connector aka Self Test Out pin.
Once connected, run the test as normal except you watch the sweeps of the needle versus watching the CE light. You can have someone else turn the key to on or, if your leads are long enough on the Ohm meter, you can prop it up on the hood and watch the needle from the comfort of your car.
