Hey guys, if you havent seen the CE light post I made awhile a way ago, I saying that the CE light would come on, the car would drop 2 cly, and because of this the car would idle at 500 rpm and act balless, thru much question asking and finally taking it to the shop we are about 75% sure its the DIS module. The shop is mainly a GM car repair shop but I know them well so they took a shot at it, when we first were trying to diagnois it and the CE codes came up as 2 coil failures, and we checked, 2 of the plug's weren't getting a spark to them so we thought, ok it must be the coil, so we replaced that and it did the same thing, so then we thought of the DIS module, because it controls the coil and we went to call to get the part, but none of them in stock, so now im searching online for one, if you guys think its something other than the DIS module please speak up, a guy, a friend of the shop owner came by to ask a question and started to help us out, he asked if the engine had been detailed recently because their was some sort of cleaning substance on top of powersteering fluid cap, which is about 2 inches from the module. I bought the car about 2 months ago from a dealer/DETAILER, which did detail my car before he sold it to me, so I figure what ever he cleaned the engine with he got it on the module and eventually messed it up for what ever reason. Damn him. Me taking it to the shop cost me nothing which is a good thing, he said he could take back the coil because for some reason, even though the coil he ordered was for a 3.0 SHO had matching prongs, but the things that held it on did not match up, so the connector from the DIS did not stay on the new one unless you held it.

check out this link, and tell me what one would be good.

Its a 1993 SHO 3.0 MTX.

Post other links for modules that arent on that list. thanks.

That shop sounds horrible, I'm sorry you had to pay for that because a tech (even though GM specialty) didn't do his job correctly. A good tech would have accesed wiring schematics, tested all the components, i.e. pulled waveforms of the CKP, CPS, and Spout, checked for power etc instead of speculating.

It sounds like a bad Camshaft Positioning Sensor (Also Cylinder Identification). It identifies which cylinder needs to be fired by which coil. Or it could be the Spout which actually controls the firing of the coil. Tell them to pull the waveforms for the Camshaft Positioning Sensor and the Spout.

They were friends, I didnt get charged anything, also he had never worked on a SHO before, but I guess you were right, where is the camshaft postioning sensor anyway? And prolly going to have to take it to the only Ford specialty place, unless I can pull the waveforms my self. I'd take it their but they almost charge as much as a dealer, =x.

Also about the camshaft positioning sensor, I heard that if it goes bad that car might have a harder time starting up, usually when I go to start my car I have to turn the key over for awhile for it to start, and some times I dont, but i've noticed that it doesnt start like a normal car should, and when you replace it is that all you need to do is plug in the new one?

Yes. Do not quote me on it though. There could be other contributing factors but from what it sounds like have them check the Camshaft Positioning Sensor.

Also the colder it is outside the longer the CE light stays on, it will still come on in warmer (50 degree F +) but will usually go off after a few minutes of driving unlike when its cold it could be on the entire time im driving.
