Weird idle issue

I looked at a 1995 sho atx today. I started the car, car was cold and cold outside, and it started right up, idle went to @1200 and then idled down to about 800 and then the check engine light flashed twice, idle went up to 1500 and then it died. I restarted it and it idled fine and didn't do it again. Any ideas what the problem is? The owner said it did it all the time but he never fixed it because after it initially dies, it doesn't do it again.

Sticky IAC? Check the codes, that'll tell you a lot. I'd also be wary of any other issues the owner didn't repair...

The only time the check engine light flashed, was twice before it died. It didn't come back on after that. I ran my little pocket scanner on it and it read no coeds.

if the cel was on, there should be stored codes. pull the codes with the paper clip jumper method - sometimes the code readers don't get them all.

The only codes that came up were lean o2 sensors.

same problem

my sho does the same this i have po172 and 176 for lean codes. does the same concern as your starts up idles weired then dies then starts up fine. let me know what you find
