Losing water but not happening all the time. Thinking maybe enough pressure has to build up for it to happen. Today it finally dripped where I could see it... well it basically drained part of the radiator. Between the engine and firewall, the hose that goes from near the thermostat housing to the metal tube up to the heater core in the firewall (I think) ... up toward the top of the firewall. There is white residue all around that hose and all the way down the side of the oil pan. Is it possible that it's leaking between the hose and the metal tube when enough pressure is built up? Couldn't get it to do it after heating up and sitting on ramps.

Also, sounds like a rock rattling around in cat when I am standing outside and rev the motor. Get underneath and it's definitally coming from the cat. Bad cat?

You can get those little hoses from RockAuto (to the heater (2) and to the ends of those metal tubes) by going down their list of hoses. Some are different diameters at each end of the hose.
Cut the hoses off the heater core tubes with an exacto knife and apply minimum force in the removal or installation. Otherwise, you dash has to be lifted, and your AC lines removed to replace your heater core.

I'll check them out. I think it's the line going to the metal tube which is crimped onto the tube from the lower connection on the motor that has the u shaped tube coming up which has the sensor attached then going to the heater core. I have the hose out so will have to see the diameter and clean up the tube some. It was a pita getting it between the transmission kickdown cable bracket and the exaust port going to the egr. It took me more time to get all the heater core related hoses undone on the driver side then it did for me to change out the alternator! Shortly after that my AC died on me :|

Cut the crimp off, and then you can pull the bad rubber hose from the metal tube. The diameter of the outlet on the engine and the tube are different, so you need this part, which you trim to the length needed to replace the bad rubber piece. Secure with worm clamps.

As far as your Cats, It could be just the heat sheilds around the cats coming loose. Any easy fix at a exhaust shop that should cost less then 20 bucks.

:thankyou::thankyou::thankyou:

I have been dealing with this issue forever! I have been stretching the smaller diameter hose over the metal tube and having to replace it every couple years because it stretches and breaks... I feel like an idiot - didn't know these were out there.

I didn't use that hose, but then again it wasn't the upper one giving me problems it was the lower one. I do have to report that it took longer to fix that than it did to change out my alternator.

Cut the metal crimp off, removed the hose, replaced etc etc. No more water leak.

If I did need that info then I will find out in a couple years!!!
