I got the y pipe off and now have better access to it but can't feel the bolt. I feel the small bolt that holds the heat shield in but if it can just be bent out of the way I won't mess with it.

I read its a 13 mm bolt that holds the vss ?? I can't find anything that big.

I replaced it with the tranny out of the car, but I don't see how it could be done without removing the head shield.

Yes, fortuneatly ive never had one go bad....but both times I've pulled my motor/tranny I've just replaced it because I haven't wanted to deal with one going bad while in the car.

If you have long joint-less arms, it can be replaced while in the car. I have done it before. You may not be able to see this sensor, so you need to learn to see/feel with you hands....
