Alright, just got my sct x4 device in today. Took the strategy code and emailed them to torrie. Got 91 octane tunes (highest available in my area). Got them all uploaded to my tuner.

Went out and tuned my car, threw the firm shift+boost on. Started it up and it started shaking pretty bad. It was idling at 1000 rpm and the car was shaking. I gave it a few seconds and drove around very nicely and it seemed to have went away, but will still shake once in a while at a stop.

The power gain is good. Nice to be able to chirp the tires a little from a stop. The shifts are HARD... Ouch.. Like I'm scared to drive it with this tune.. Feels like the car is shifting into reverse and back to drive every shift. Swear my tranny is about to fall out under WOT or even 60%+ throttle. I understand the shifts are "firm" but this is ridiculous. I've had tuned vehicles before and their "firm" shifts were still pretty smooth. And my 0-60 times tuned vs stock are about the same (i blame the terrible shifts when it's tuned).

Anyone have any ideas? Bad tune? I'm going to email Torrie and see what he says about it. Maybe he can tone it down a bit... Just thought I'd get your opinions about it.

Alright, emailed Torrie and got a response right away. Sent me some new tunes with smoother shifts and they're excellent. Car quit shaking as well.

Glad you and Torrie got it sorted out! Probably had the firmest shifts in the first version you got. Some torque management added in the current version? Car does have to relearn the tune each time, but that wasn't the issue, I agree.

Always a good idea to go through the 'relearn the idle' procedure too. The car's manual explains how to do this.

Alright. Loving the new tune. My only concern is that the firm shifts from the previous tune caused my tranny to slip under hard shifts. Basically it would slip and slam back into gear. Is this a sign of my tranny going bad? 54k miles on the car. It shifts better with the new tune, but still makes me worry about the future. Don't want to replace my tranny anytime soon!

I would make sure the "learning" cycle is complete first (see OM, as mentioned by wuzzer). After that, PCM calibration comes to mind. Do you have the latest software running? If you do go in for service, return to stock tune first. If they update PCM, you will get a new strategy code that you have to send to Torrie for your tune to be updated as well.
