After i installed my tune on my 2016 non pp with 85k miles on it i did notice a lot of harder shifts in all gears 1-2 being hardest an 2-3 being pretty close. The shifts have settled down it an are getting pretty close to stock but today after work testing my draggy turning trac control off an doing a 2kish launch in sport mode trans just let go entirley (no movement) but the gears changed on the dash went from 1st thru 5th like it was searching for one to grab had similiar things happen an it seems to only be on 3/4th throttle an more unless i do some kind of gradual exceleration. An when im rolling in second an mash it typically does fine. Its stock minus tune plugs an 3bar map. Anyone have anything like this.. im having a hard time believing its a trans issue physically as didnt do before an dont have issues handling the powerwhen done gradually.

The ECU learns rpm at various load points and shifts at different times and pressures. When you reset the memory it can take up to 40 hours of driving for everything to smooth out.

Thanks for the explanation. Since I haven't heard of this before, I assume this is something that I shouldn't do?

KAM reset does a good bit of things. It keeps memory of things like:

Octane Adjust Ratio
Transmission shifting strategies
Long Term Fuel trims

If you previously had an unleashed tune (which usually has some of it's own transmission shifting quirks I wouldn't be surprised if you switching to Gearhead and immediately having some differences. The car will slowly adjust to the new tune or by doing a KAM reset it puts it in a sort of learning mode where it'll start adapting faster than trying to override more compiled drive time shfiting.

to add to Jordan's list, the KAM reset should be performed after each tune and then after 15-20 minutes drive at what you would consider a normal driver would drive. no beating on her or testing the tune. good tuners should always ask for a reset for the reasons he points out could need relearns. PS there is a manual method that can be more reliable than the tuning device itself by shorting the disconnected ground cable with the positive for 5 minutes.
