Someone's installing what appears to be a big power amp. What, the Sony sound system wasn't good enough for you?

This might be a dumb question but what/where is the grounding point you used?

Theres a ground I used for the volt meter right in the kick panel by the drivers door. The amps were grounded by the stock amp (there is a ground there for the stock amp I just reused).

You wouldnt happen to have a picture of where it is would you? I think they must have chaged that whole setup on the 2011's... Below is what mine looks like (stock).

You dont have the Sony sound like I do. I have a big stock amp and then a digital audio controller.

But I do...

Strange...

Wtf thats odd. You are missing the amp for the two "subwoofers."

You are missing this box

Im sure your not actually missing it they probably moved it somewhere else, but if you pull down the roof of the trunk (its just velcro) you will see the two subs. Follow the wires and see where they go. I have a 2010 so the amps and DSP box are next to each other.

The red wire is my RCA cable, I already had the subs/amp put in but i was using the ground you can see in the pictures next to the amp where its been sanded down. It worked at low volume but when you turn it up where the power really starts the amp turns off because it isnt a good ground.

If you look on your picture of your amp I used the bottom left bolt on the bracket holding the amp to the car as a ground. Can you put up pics of your subs?

O and the wires from the two subs in the rear deck go back through the deck and route on the top somewhere so in order to follow them I guess ill have to take apart the top of the rear deck.

I dont understand. Where do the RCAs go? Those are the factory subs, I know they are there lol. Take apart the other wide of the trunk and see whats back there I guess. That other box is where you have to tap off of to add subs.

:laugh_ti: I thought it was kinda weird for you to ask for a pic of the factory subs. The RCA's dont go anywhere as of yet. I just put them in under all the carpet and stuff before I couldnt find where to tap in (with a coverter). I will do a massive search for this infamous box tomorrow as I am off for the holiday.

Sorry if I have "Highjacked" your post :hail:

Not at all, I really would like to help you out and for my own curiosity figure out what Ford did with the other amp. If you look in my pic, the amp we both have (called the DSP) serves all the speakers, and the second box serves the two subs. I have a feeling they may have moved it to the other side of the trunk because the two of them close like that generate a lot of heat.

Adding the additional amp is a huge improvement with the new speakers. Coming from a 200 watt stock system with some crappy 35w Sonys to true components adds so much additional sound. Definitely a recommended upgrade. The second amp tucked nicely on the roof of the trunk too.
