That's Decent!
My two wonderful SHO machines are having quite a time lately and Im pretty much at a stand still as far as diagnosis. I will start with my 95 MTX. I have a hellacious belt screech/squeal when I start it up and also when engaging/running the A/C. I replaced the front (towards headlights) belt tensioner, after my other one fell apart on me, because it was also making the belt squeal...atleast I thought it was the problem at the time. Now Im wondering if the A/C condsensor is going bad since the belt will squeal when its on, plus if I turn on Max A/C my motor and tach go crazy (almost dying, really low idle, oil light, etc.) Any ideas on what I can try to figure it out?
That is issue number 1. Number 2 is an intermittant problem dealing with fuel I think. When under acceleration (mild, moderate or otherwise
) I occassionally get a kick or stumble. It feels like I just lose power all of a sudden but then it kicks back in, sometimes rather violently. Im replacing the fuel filter tonight, though (as you will read) I dont think it will solve the issue.
Btw: Checked codes and other than the ever-present 551 issue everything came up A-Ok.
EDIT: I went outside and ran the 95, usual belt squeal at start up, then I turned on the A/C and listened to the belt. There is a ticking noise with the A/C on that is either coming from the (newly installed, refurbished) Alternator or the A/C Condensor, but I couldnt figure out which one.
So thats the 95, anyone confused yet?
The 93 3.2L MTX is also having a very similar fuel (i think) issue, though I have codes for this one. They arent the exact same issue because the 93's is a much more strung out event. The car will surge/buck under mild acceleration and chug at idle. I can drive it while this is happening but not very fast or very far, though it usually only lasts 5 minutes or so and then the idle smooths out and its fine again for a week or so. Here are the codes I got...
KOEO
111
Stored Memory
113 - IAT (high or Open)
214 - Error in CID sensor
556 - Fuel Pump primary circuit fault
KOER
116 - ECT out of range
225 - Knock Sensor not tested.
I know the KOER codes are probably there because the car wasnt warmed up. (I got the same codes from my 95 on a "cold" pull of the codes.)
I have replaced the schrader valve and fuel filter on the 93 recently due to leaks and what not but otherwise nothing has been done to it lately.
I hope this makes some sense to someone as Im in need of some advice and info. I have been throwing around the idea of getting rid of them both because I dont have the money or patience to keep them both up but if I can get a little more insight into their issues I might not feel so bad about spending the money or time on them. As of right now they are my only transportation and when they act up I just wonder how long until they strand me somewhere.
Anyway, any input is greatly appreciated, TIA.
