Before you hang me, this is just an idea. I was thinking 2 small turbos off of like a chrysler 2.2/2.5l one on each bank, boosting about 8lb each. Will these turbo's work if I use 2 or are they just not suffecient enough?

My advice, simpler and less expensive to do a single, with more performance capability. After my dyno Sat, I think people will forever stop thinking about twins, as single is where its at yo!

i've been working on the same thing... however, slightly larger turbos
i'm thinking relocate the battery
and make a custom crossover tube to fit two throttle bodies...
has anyone tried this?

Twin turbo remote mount setup. Would definalty work.
no worrying about space is what makes it easier than up front.

On a single exhaust car? Uh no... not unless they are sequential turbos... but then you might as well just do a single...

someone just convert their taurus to RWD already ...then none of u will have problems running twin turbos on seperate but equal piping systems

its realy not that hard .... swap front frames, front suspensions, center tunnels, rear suspension and trunk floors(with gas tank) have a driveshaft made, replumb the gas tank, hook up the steering .... :)

If space is an issue, what about this??

Mount a smaller turbo in the engine bay to accommodate any lag so that good launches with boost is easier. Then mount a massive turbo remotely and run the piping accordingly. Because there is a small turbo spooling up close to the engine, there is no need to worry about turbo lag for the second turbo mounted out back. Therefore, a huge turbo taking its time to spool up isnt really an issue anymore. There is enough space in the engine bay for one turbo and the tubing for a twin set up... Just not for both turbos as well. This way, you eliminate the tight fits for having 2 turbos mounted next to the engine as well as the extra heat made by having a twin turbo set up.

This idea is brought to you by a complete ***** when it comes to forced air... So please feel free to shoot me down hard and no feelings will be hurt. :)

why not just make a twin engine taurus... leave the front engine where it is and add another to the rear. 2 sho engines in one taurus, tubed chassis all wheel drive.

twin turbo setups have to be either

A: equal sized turbos
B: sequential, meaning valveson the intake and exhast piping so that all hot and cold gasses go where they needto, and not leak out the wrong direction anyplace

doing single exhaust that runs through a small turbo and then a large turbo will cause the large turbo to never spool because the small turbo chokes out the exhaust at higher rpm

if you want to seperate the systems, you need a valve that directs the exhaust to either turbo 1 OR turbo 2

you also need valves of some sort that keeps air from the compressor side of turbo 1 from back flowing through turbo 2 (and vise versa)

i have an idea on how to run twin equal sized turbos in a sequential setup, but it needs a bunch of custom machined precision parts :)

I have been considering doing twins on my turbo build, mainly because I just like to be different.

I think most people stick with single, because it's much easier to package under our cramped hoods. Twins would be a good packaging challenge. Even a remote twin setup will have a good amount of piping going in and out of the engine bay and such.

And for those of you who are saying twins won't work on a V6... you guys must be smoking some good stuff. People have been doing twin turbo V6s forever. ****, the Noble M12 supercar uses a twin turbo Ford V6.
