And supercharged SHO's. Over 50, maybe double that!

sholover. a 60-1 is a good sized turbo but ask time how well it was sized. IIRC he used to run that turbo at the underhood location

Ban really? The burden of proof falls on th accuser, there is no way for me to find he names of these people. When you work and manage performamce and race shops you see tons of cars for dyno days. Also dfw is huge in terms of car enthusiest.

So, you work for performance and race shops, and see tons of car for dyno days, and knew these people well enough to ride in their turbo SHO's to be able to get impressions of their particular setup, but you have no way of finding them? Show me even a single dyno from any of the ten turbo SHO's you have worked with during these dyno days. Or is the burden of proof on me to show that there are no dyno sheets of these cars. Okay, look here guys, I don't have any dyno sheets for ten turbo SHO's in Dallas. Guess I win?

i did more home work and help from my buddy with his prebuilt airflow chart a sube guy we rechecked it out and its on the map all the way to 8grand and if you also go by turbonetics map matrix i said 3.0 50 trim tdo4e 63 a/r stage v is usable im not sayn any1 is wrong but im only lookn for low boost and like 300hp just something to have fun with im not lookn for 450+

Plain and simple a 50 trim is too small and will be spooling almost all the time. Your going to be corked before the secondaries open, your going to put 10x as much wear on your parts. It makes ZERO sense to spend all the time/money on a horribly inefficient system. But to each his own, do as you will . Boost is boost .. I guess ?

Prebuilt airflow chart for what? A 2.5 boxer? A .63 a/r 50 trim is not going to be in a good efficiency range at 8k on a SHO engine. You would be much better served with a 57 trim compressor, as it's efficiency range allows for 300chp at a lower pressure ratio as compared to the 50trim. And get a larger turbine a/r, and you should be all set for a low boost 300chp build, with the capability to move more air if you choose to later.

Seriously though, while I am not nearly as active as I was a few years back, I have been on just about every forum in the country, and have spent way too many hours online searching for turbo SHO related stuff. By and large, the younger generation embraces internet forums, and by and large, the only people turbocharging these 20yr old sedans are the younger guys, therefore, a lot of the turbocharged SHO's have at least some presence on the internet. Based on this, I put the number of turbocharged SHO's much closer to 20 max, and I can promise you that half of those are NOT in Dallas.

Btw I had a 50 trim with a stagev wheel last year.



It didnt make good power up top at all, but it was fun to drive around town. Just go with a bigger turbo. Turbos dont get much more expensive in size.

You hit the nail on the head there!

While I'm dying to spill all the new knowledge I've learned about turbos lately that's not much I can say that hasn't been covered already.

Simply said, the SHO breathes high and mighty, mate it with a turbo that does the time. Also, keep in mind the opening of the secondaries, personally, if I was going to turbo charge my SHO I would prefer a larger turbo/housing. When your hammering a SHO remember that you don't spend a lot of time below 4k, so what's the point in a small turbo?

Get a big one that's just getting it's funk on at 4k grand! Grab a UDP set, a Tweecer, a new Fuel Pump, and FPR and your golden to push that top end power like the SHO is meant to do.

I'm just spouting off here, correct me if I'm wrong. Our Yamaha engines our all about horsepower up top, not tq down low, while torque makes a great feeling in a DD nothing beats the rush of all out top end hp that just keeps coming! Enter the SHO!

With that said, from what little number crunching I just did along with playing with some compressor maps for a lower booster set up I would possibly suggest a Turbonetics 62-1, I'm not sure of what housing they offer, though.

Before anyone shoots me let me also say I have never turbocharged a vehicle or driven a turbocharged vehicle for that matter, I'm just piecing together information from different spots and throwing in what common sense I have ..

depends on what supporting mods you are running... I would say anywhere from 450 to 600 max. With a proper tune and great supporting mods only though. with the setup I have, Probably around 550 to 600. I would be losing power up top with anything more than that. That would be crank hp.

whell that project is off for now the kid gave it to his brother for his build on his vr6 but with that said i will look into a bigger turbo thanks for the info everyone
