got in the car started it and drove it on to the trailer to take to the race track and it started right up. We got to the track and he went out for hot laps and the car ran fine but he said the car kept wanting to shut off so he came in so our crew could check it out. By the time they checked the car and we went to start it again it was clicking like we had a dead battery. We changed the battery out and it started and I went to go out for my heat race because we have a ladies class too. I got a little ways down the pits to go out and the car cut off and I tried to start it again and the same thing a clicking noise. His uncle which also owns a shop said that the way it was acting it looked to him like there was a short somewhere where it wasn't getting a good connection with the battery because the battery we replaced the first one with we know was definitely charged up. We did switch the battery out one more so with still the same results and by the time we did this it was almost time for my main event to be over so and my husband's main even had already passed so we just pushed it back onto the trailer.

anyone have any ideas ?

Probably bad battery cables.

The ground cable, especially, likes to corrode out inside the insulation jacket.

A few simple meter tests will verify whether or not this is the case.

Steve's really good and all, but I wouldn't use an educated guess like that to determine whether or not to buy a car with known issues. Just my $.02

I wouldn't suggest buying such a car unless either you have deeeeep pockets or you can diagnose and repair such a simple failure.
