Yesterday my 91 SHO pre 5/13/91 trans shift lever started to flop front to rear. As I tried to leave the trans was stuck in reverse . When the friend I called to help and bring tools arrived, we removed the console we saw that the ball socket bushing that attaches to the ball on the shift lever thru the hole in the black plastic "yoke" at the end of the shifter cable [pre 5/13/91] was in 2 pieces and the shift lever ball was disengaged from the hole in the end of shift cable black plastic "yoke". We were able to get the trans out of reverse and into 2nd in order to get the car home. Didn't have any luck at Ford finding the part. Does anybody know where to find this black ball socket bushing or did some one have a machine shop make one or two. We think this black part, that was packed with grease, bio-degraded, and now I'm suspect of the other white plastic ball socket end of cable fitting.
