There is a long standing unstated law of SHO owners.

You are not TRULY an SHO owner until you have a picture of your car on a flatbed.

Welcome to the club. Can't tell you how many of those pix I have myself.

Truly a rite of passage.

SHO = Making mechanics out of ordinary people since 1989....

The white SHO is better than the red SHO I had back in 2001. LOL

I hope THIS PART will be able to solve the issue with the transmission so I can get the SHO back!! Transmission Wire Harness and was able to find it on "Cobra Transmission".

Well, my mechanic sent these pics to me this morning stating "Converter is damaged. You’ll be needing a replacement unit." I went ahead and ordered a new TC to be delivered overnight.

Got the SHO back just now. There are still codes on it, and, the first one is what his system says. The 2nd one is what my O’Reilly system stated.

Since I can't get the main picture posted, here are the codes that it reads:

P1518 - Intake manifold runner control stuck open
P1414 - Secondary Air Injection system monitor circuit high voltage
P1000 - OBDII system checks incomplete
P1760 - Pressure control solenoid A short
P1260 - Theft detected, engine disabled

First code is a classic. I can think of literally hundreds of V8 SHO's with their secondaries 'Wired Open'. IMRC cable fails and secondaries NEVER open. The IMRC is the box mounted to the front head valvecover under the appearance cover.

Second code is for a pump that forces air into the exhaust to heat up the catalytic converters. Has no effect on engine operation. Just emissions. Ignore.

3rd code means you just reset the computer and have not yet fulfilled the necessary driving tests cycles. Ignore.

4th code IS a transmission code. Not really familiar with it. Investigate.

5th code is a scary one. It comes from the PATS (Passive Anti Theft System). It can shut you down for good without warning, or maybe it won't. It is a wild-card.

This is a Texas car? Has it been swimming? Start unplugging, cleaning, and re-plugging pretty much everything under the hood and specifically associated to the transmission and see if the cars' behavior improves.

It flooded here very badly about a month ago. I was leaving work when I had to turn it around and sleep inside of it since everything was majorly flooded almost everwhere here in the lower Rio Grande Valley. My town got almost 30 inches of rain that day/night.

I forgot to mention, the SHO still shifts had on occasion.

Where is the ECM located at? I see it's usually they are located behind the passenger footwell panel?

In the firewall directly behind the center of the engine.

Have you done anything with the valvebody yet? Sometimes the valves get scored and tend to hang up causing strange things to happen.

Well, I have the SHO back. Same issue(s) still apply. I went ahead and ordered an ECU/ECM for it. It arrived today. I need to find someone to install it for me. I ordered it TO SEE if that will help solve the issues. Also, I'm going to have the spark plus changed soon so I can tell if the welding has happened or not. While that is apart, I will be making a valve cover gasket for it.

2 things -
First, the valvebody can be removed from the transmission without removing the transmission from the car.

Second, I doubt the computer is your problem.

Well, I had the PCM install into my SHO this morning. It has corrected the shifting issues, for the most part. Driving slow it tries to do a semi hard shift, but, under acceleration, it's nice and smooth.

So, since I do not know what the previous owner did with the SHO, I bought 8 spark plugs (Motorcraft SP-432-X), 8 ignition coils, a crankshaft sensor, and a ignition 2 terminal multi-purpose connector.

Its plausible that a tune was put into the ECU since it controls both the power train and the drive train. Seems like it went away when you reset the ECU, but then came back after a bit of driving, which doesn't exactly align with a tune. But if its working, no complaints here.

A tuner could also detune the hard shifts as well. I went with harder shift to keep the torque converter engaged and no over drive using the TweeCer. I could have also made it shift under lighter loads, but to light can lead to engine stumbling.

Don't take this as gospel. My ECU could be different than yours. Things like tire/rim size can affect your results. But this table will SHOw stock values and help calculate changes and how they might affect your shift points.
