USA Parts Online. No more available at this time. I bought thier last one, for now. They advised me that they usually keep one in stock.

I've always wanted to buy one of Doug Lewis's "Road Ripper" AX4N performance rebuilt transmissions from Ford Performance Specialists, Inc. in Mableton, GA. It sounded like the most you could eke out of one of these auto trannys.

We did all this in Junior and Senior years of High School!!!! LOL
Ha! yeah, I didn't live near the border. Although I did live near the Ohio border when the drinking age was 18 before the whole country went to 21. We had fake ID's for being 18!

I had this issue before after a rebuild. Where the original transmission in the car I believe had a 1-2 accumulator modified to deal with the fact that they likely tossed the sho specific accumulator (with a spring) away. The shop that rebuilt my trans couldn't figure it out. And oddly enough the car with shift 1-2 perfectly after a battery reset.
I ended up solving it with an SCT tune turning the 1-2 shift pressure down. Ofc when I change out the engine I'm putting the correct accumulator piston (with spring sho only) regular taurus has no spring within its accumulator.

Theres a PDF from ford addressing this terribly annoying issue here https://atracom.blob.core.windows.net/manuals/individual/2003/2003-88.pdf

Doug taught me a few tricks, which I promised not to share and I have not/will not.

Let us just say that the transmission I built for my Eaton Supercharged 1996 SHO never failed. The car rusted out. I sold the still working drivetrain which has over 30,000 miles on it.

Doug's transmissions are the real deal in my not so humble opinion.

On my ‘99 SHO, we have flushed the transmission fluid, 3 new motor mounts, changed the oil, changed 1 O2 sensor and a few other things. At times, the transmission shifts just fine. At other times, when it shifts, it shifts HARD.

What do you think is wrong with my sedan?
It could be a torque converter problem. If you've never had a transmission flush done on the care and mileage is near or over 100k, it could be your tranny

When I bought the SHO, it had state plates that expired in ‘22. So, I’ve done a lot usual maintenance to it since I bought it. Now, I need to get new front and rear brakes, tie rods and sway bars. Of yeah, tint the windows.

THIS has helped calm down my transmission issues. It’s rare that I feel the hard shifts now by adding this into the transmission fluid.

So this is a friction modifier. If this has helped things look to replacing the torque converter as this is assisting with it locking up.
If you add this with each flush it should last a while.

Going through the King Ranch lest weekend. With the issues, the SHO drives well/normal.

Well, my SHO needs the "Transmission Wire Harness" and THAT PART is not available. I even contacted Pioneer, Inc about it and it isn't available. Ughhhh...... The part # is 772103, through Pioneer, Inc.
