Hi Everyone. Will try to descibe this as well as I can.
1992 mtx 250,000 +K
1st to 2nd good,
2nd to 3rd gets stuck before 3rd have to pull very hard
to get out of almost 3rd then will go to 4th o.k..

Going into 3rd a clacking sound starts thats worse when clutch is pressed.

I found if I wait about 5 seconds 2nd to 3rd no problem.
Once its in gear all is fine.

Anyone have any thoughts ?

I am prepared for the worse.
Thanks,

Does it shift into 3rd well with the engine off? First thing to do it to check the fluid level in the tranny. There is a 3/8" square drive plug on the front of the tranny about 1/2 way down remove this plug the fluid should be up to it when the car is level. It sounds like it could be a bad blocking ring.

How does the clutch feel? Try lifting up on the pedal to adjust the cable. Other than that may have to take a look in the tranny. What fluid did you use btw?
Living that close you should have made it to my BBQ last sept. We get together here once a year and have lots of fun. Also make sure to join www.shopower.com if you have not all ready its the ONT SHO club.

^ this guy knows his shit, you'd be smart to befriend him in someway, perhaps a case of beer. :p

What type of fluid you used is a big deal and could be a night and day difference.

I have had good luck with mobil 1 syntec ATF and is what I am currently using. In the past I was good with GM syncomesh, and Castrol regular ATF. What fluid did you use? It was a type of ATF right? ATF = auto transmission fluid

Penzoil Snycromesh = GM syncro Mesh. Works amazing (However, I would never use Penzoil Motor Oil).

Fluid change first. If that dosen't help, the syncro, gear, or blocking ring is shot.

Changing the fluid to a diff kind may help as well. Also what happens if you double clutch it when you shift into 3rd?
