Hi guys i did my front 60k and noticed my axles are toast. Always driped tranny fluid from the right axle seal btw. So i picked up some shosource axles and seals. Installed them using a bearing/seal press. Put anorbic (i know thats not spelled correctly)sealer on the outer sealto case, rubbed oil on the rubber portion to cvaxle. Pushed the cv axles in as gently as possible(Especially the half shaft on the passenger side since it was light) till i i felt a click and was unable to pull them out. The leak is only while driving. No leak at idle.

well, the challenge is there are plenty of candidates for where the leak is.

I have had them leak at the speedo drive gear location. There is an o-ring that seals that aluminum piece that drops down into the trans, and after 20+ years it can leak. That would only leak when driving as the oil level is not that high when standing.

Lots of them leak at the case half split. They just need a thin bead of sealer on that surface, but if its not completely dry when you install that, then it will still leak.

I had one that leaked from the fill plug - when driving the oil is flying around all over, and it would wick up the threads around the fill plug.

I suggest you wash it carefully at the carwash so you get it cleaned up, and then monitor where you see the oil starting to appear.

Ok ill start by cleaning after work and as soon as i pull in the drive way ill jack it up and take a peep. It almost seems like it flows out faster the harder i push the car.well thats what the smoke behind me says. But i guess that can be from the wind throwing it on the exhaust.

Have you guys had any problems spraying the undercarriage with a pressure washer? Should i worry about spraying something delicate? As you said carefully

Most people refill it until fluid spills out. You can't really overfill it... I don't think. The angle has me wondering but I don't really think so. Other than poor quality seals available is it possible that the mating surface around the seal area got a little messed up and that prevents a good seal? It's hard to say as the quality of other seals for the engine are inconsistent.

Impossible to overfill it. It's a touch hole on the side. Like a rear axle you just fill it till it starts coming out. Kinda hard to overfill it as you would just spill any excess. As for leaks. Not much to leak down below. Unless you improperly installed them or they are faulty. Just because you get seals from SHOSource doesn't mean they are the best. I hate to say it, but its doesn't seem like they watch their quality control. I myself ordered control arms from them with SHOSource themselves saying they were the ones for the SHO. The SHO had thicker control arms than the regular Taurus. What I received was stock Taurus control arms.

Not saying this is what it is. Just letting you know. I guess it could be a crack somewhere? Or perhaps the case seal itself leaking? I don't think that's the issue.

I unscreewed it all the way, cleaned it and put anorobic sealer on it and Tighten it ALL THE WAY. No leak my boys. Looks like i put the seals in right on my first try.

Yes. Car needs to be level. I use a small funnel with a hose attached to it. I snake the hose down the engine compartment into the fill hole on the front of the tranny.

the threaded part that you said was loose is not where the o-ring is. the part that the cable threads onto is a round piece that slips down into the trans. that piece has an o-ring on the outside - I have seen them leak there.
