To fix or not to fix

I need some help deciding whether or not to fix my 2011 SHO. I've already replaced both turbos and it has 147,000 MI. 300 miles after the turbo change the timing chain is bad. No damage to the engine. It is also having some problems with the transmission. I have previously sourced a rebuilt transmission from a reputable shop for approximately 2,500. Ford said that since they have the engine already out for the timing chain water pump and oil pump that I plan on having replaced also, they will install the transmission with no warranty since it was not purchased from Ford. Total cost for timing chain water pump oil pump transmission and installation would be approximately 8,500. I really like this car after having a 2010 SHO with no major problems until 267,000 Mi with a bad timing chain. Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you sure the transmission is bad? If it's just studdering at low RPM's you probably need a torque converter.

Has Ford already started working on it? If not, I'd say take it some place else. They're going to cost around double of anyone else.

I've had my water pump / timing chain and torque converter replaced and came out around $3K. Mine is a 2012.

Look - it sounds like you are in for some major repairs. Timing chains - water pump and possible _______ fill in the blank for the transmissions - suspension maybe you live in a rust belt. Have you ever changed the RDU oil, how frequently you flushed the brake lines and fluids? It seems there are.more questions for me - you original owner or have the complete maintenance history ? Based on your scenario - time to let a 20 y/o have some fun dumping money in.

Im usually one for the "stick with it" mentality but for 8500 and you still have other factors to consider with the mileage i agree with @kryptto here, might be time to let it go to someone with money burning a hole in their pocket. unfortunately the car's current state is only worth about half of what you'd have to put into it to be ready to go again, but you could take the sale money (assuming its paid for) and put it down on a newer one with less miles and maybe already has the chains and pump done to it. a lot of benefits come with going with a newer SHO, if you want to stay in the same kind of car but cant justify investing in this one, that'd be my recommendation.
