This will be my second car I am 18. I have about 6000 to spend maybe 6500 if the deal is right. My dad isn’t sure about a sho he is afraid we will buy one that has been used and abused since it is a twin turbo v6. He thinks the people who own them just beat on them. So I was curious what the longevity and reliability is like on these. I found a 2012 one owned by a mom with 176000 on it I don’t know if that is to much she gets all of her maintenance done at a ford dealership. Did the timing chain and water pump recently has all the receipts of the work. I just don’t know how long they go for. My girlfriend lives about 45 minutes away and I take that drive a couple times a week. So I want something that will last me a couple years to school and back and going out with friends and such and to my girlfriends. I’m a pretty handy guy so I would keep up on the maintenance. But if I bought this car with 176000 how much longer could I expect out of it and what could I expect to go wrong soon.

Im old enought to be your Uncle/Father.But young enough to be your Brother.Id never not give advice I wouldn't want at said age but FWD is MORE than adequate .Im not sure Of your financial situation but I would Look into some of the other(Ford) FWD models and learn to drive stick as 1 if not the other will help greatly when financially securing your next vehicle.Cost wise this platform is like a 5-10 year old foreign(still quite expensive). And Ease of Maintenance is also like a Foreign(With some jobs being suspiciously simple.)So don't get it twisted, however enjoi whatever you get!

You are too young for that type of risk unless, as you say, you have another reliable vehicle that you have access to. There are too many other things that are important to risk a 176k vehicle on ruining. Everything is on borrowed time. These cars are too complex to be be affordable and something you can rely on. If it was a v8 tundra at 176 maybe. For a Ford twin turbo AWD drivetrain? Nah. The used purchase price is always the bait. The real cost is on the other side.

Don't buy a high-mileage SHO. Find an Accord or something.

so i agree and say no, like did u know that 10-12 had a smaller and "defective" exhaust manifold system that would shed metal and eat turbos - it was a recall item, but not everyone performs the recall, are they the newer ones that breath better and not going to eat a turbo? who knows, you can pull that report from carfax or from the lookup tool and VIN.

Just throwing some stuff into the consideration.
