Now that i have another car i havent been driving the sho. I started it up the other day and this is whats going on. It was puffing smoke before but now it has a light knock or tap every few seconds. Sounds like its coming from a tensioner? Any thoughts

Yes they are intake cam failed and i rebuilt the front head. But i believe i might have got the timing off a hair or so. Had a random miss. There were no vac leaks. Over the course of two months it got worse till i could park it.

I think you have the problem there. If the timing is wrong on the cams, you could certainly generate that noise and if it is out enough it will get worse as the impact of the valves with the pistons continue.

If the timing gets corrected. Will that solve my issues or is it possible. More damaged has happened. I pulled tue covers a few weeks ago and everything still looked good.

Well, the motor is an interference type, so when the cam timing is out, there is a tendency for the valves to contact the tops of the pistons. As a result, it is very possible that there is additional damage. If you have not run it much in this state, maybe not great. But I suspect you might be looking at problems like bent valve stems and dented piston tops if there is any significant run time on the motor with the cam timing off.

There might be some other way to figure it out, but the way I am used to on this is to pull the heads and look.
