Think I found the rattle!

I'll let some of you in on a few rattles I've come across.
1. Rear view mirror. It seems the casing is just coming loose as time goes on. If you squeeze the bottom corners of the mirror you can feel the movement in it. When I hold it while driving over bumps the rattle goes away.
2. Center bezel. I have found that if I put a little pressure on the bezel between the radio controls and the climate controls while driving over bumps the rattle goes away.
I'm taking my car in tomorrow to address both of these as well as a few other things. It seems like a little strip of sound deadening mat should clear these up.
3. I have heard a little rattling from under the steering console. I have not been able to pin point this one out yet.

I have two of three you mentioned. The dealer replaced the mirror but the rattle returned. I was relegated to putting a piece of foam tape between the mirror and the plastic covering attached to the windshield - solved. The instrument panel rattle I am still trying to pin down, sounds metallic - high pitched tapping.

Instrument panel rattles are often not the instrument panel but a cable that runs in the headliner near the sunroof. This noise "travels" all around the interior and is perceived to be from many places. Worth a try.

Brought my car to dealer yesterday and took your pic to show dealer your discovery, for almost a year now I have had that same rattle/buzzing sound coming from front headliner area and seems to travel fro passenger to driver side sometimes.
Dealer is looking into it and will try to fix.

Dealer said they were reluctant to do the modification shown because if there is a problem in the future there could be an issue with the warranty.
Quite frankly I find this disappointing and do not understand what issues this "modification" could cause in the future.
I am now left to my own devices, how hard is it to remove the headliner enough to wrap the wire in something that will dampen this noise. Like the rest of you this noise is driving me nuts.
If this is a fix that someone with average ability can handle then I can easily do it but I do not have a clue on what to remove, I can see the wire that you all are talking about.
I understand too that there is an antennae wire sitting loose in a channel under the headliner very close to the front windshield as well could this also be causing a noise ?

Just below the sunroof opening, the headliner is basically attached with industrial Velcro tabs. You should be able to release the headliner enough to wrap the wire bundle with something without having to completely lower the headliner. I too do not see where the carpet could cause any issues.
I'm not familiar with the antenna and didn't need to seek it out after wrapping the cable.

I took this post and fixed mine a bit differently in the means of the black sticky windshield sealer. I put some under the wires on top of the headliner and basically stuck the wires to the plastic so they aren't bouncing around anymore. Noise fixed!
I had the sun visor rattle and solve it because of you guys, thank you again. Now there are 2 other rattle to go. One coming from my steering wheel with a metal noise, maybe there is something loose. The worst one is the sunshade, since they repair my sunshade, i have so much rattle noise. Could anyone tell me how you remove the cover for the sunshade? And what to see what they did and how to solve the rattle noise, it's driving me crazy.

My car has a rattle as well. But get this, from the passenger seat. I had the issue a year ago and told the dealer that I believe the airbag charge canister is loose and rattling when the car takes even the slightest bumps. I can slap the seat and make it rattle as well. They fixed it once, its back again. Not sure how they fixed it, I can't remember.

I am getting ready to "drop" my headliner as I have the now infamous cable rattle in the overhead, although mine seems to be right above and behind the drivers head. If I push on the headliner right over my head it goes away.
When you say "industrial velcro tabs," does that mean I jsut give it a good yank or just pull on it enough to work in side the headliner?
Additionally, has anyone pulled out the center console or worked the (genuine imitation)carbon fiber panel between the climate controls and the rear shade control/cig lighter panel? I am looking at seeing if there is enough room behind that blank panel to install some 2 1/16" gauges.

You probably will not need to drop the entire headliner to access the rattle. On my car I just opened the sunroof (slid back), then pulled down on the headliner at the front of the sunroof opening. It released from the Velcro and I had plenty of room to access the harness. If you have a small wedge, that may help as well to keep the headliner away from the roof while you work with the cable. I will say though I was working on the passenger side and I didn't pay attention to how the cable runs on the driver's side. I'm not sure it will be as easily accessible. Also, be careful how much you wedge the headliner away from the roof. If you go to far, you may end up with a crinkle in the rolled edge where the headliner curves up to cover the sunroof opening.

I have tracked my rattle in this area down to the door lock ****. I have had this issue on other cars over the years. You can check it by unlocking the doors while driving, if it goes away it's the door lock ****. Flip the **** with your finger and hear the rattle. I have fixed this in the past with a layer of electrical tape to tighten up the area between the **** and the hole, but haven't tried it on this car yet.

Bump...Noises and rattles!
REAR seat in the headliner, passenger side...a rub or click...also click from center piece on the rear window, where it meets the headliner.
And for further annoyances, a ticking on/in dash located in between top of steering wheel and collision sensor (driver side only-or that's what it sounds like.)
When i press either both rattles/clicks/rubs, go away.
I did cramp some sticky tape in the back...slightly better. But any idea for a better or more permanent fix?
What about the dash rattle? Any tips for front?

Fortunately I haven't encountered any of those rattles yet to have recommendations for how to fix them. Short of pulling panels loose and looking for causes of the rattles, I don't have much to offer.
