I know the norm for the gauge is for the needle to point at approx. 24 mph. Since cooler weather has arrived, I have noticed that alot of times, the needle will only rise to about 20 mph. I wonder if this is due to the cowl hood, or if it is a t-stat problem. It has NEVER risen above 24 mph. Is the engine up to normal operating temps at the 20 mph mark?

It could be a result of the cowl hood. I also found that when I installed my tranny cooler and eliminated the radiator portion of the cooling circuit that I have since lower coolant temps.

Im not sure how accurate the gauges really are. In my old 94 it seemed to bee all over the place. When my tstat did stick open, it was very obvious that there was a problem, the needle never even moved. I would guess the little difference is maybe due to the hood, but I would also say that if it was stuck open, you probably would definately know, like I said it was obvious on my 94.

Oh, and David, I will be graduating this december, and will finaly have some money, when would be a good day for me to come buy your car. he he he

take care

Cowl hoods rock! :thumb:
My under hood temps dropped dramaticly.
These cars trap way too much heat under the hood to begin with.
I still say that a cowl hood is the best mod.

I agree! Not only that, but they really help the car overcome the jellybean look. I have guys tell me that my car looks unreal... and these guys think shos are for girls.
As far as helping underhood temps, it is like night and day. If the coilpacks life are prolonged, the hood will easily pay for itself :)

If the cowl hood was a smoother more rounded shape I think it would go better with the car. Personally I feel the straight lines and dramatic elevation change are out of place.

But I won't dis the cooling benefit.
