Dont want to disapoint you , but, in order to have some good sound , you would need an amp.

You can always splice up from the rear speakers wires and use that. But id really doupt the quality is gonna be there.

OR

scrap the rear sho ones and bring the wires into your box directly. But again i doupt on the quality.

And i really doupt the signal for the rear sho speakers is high enough to drive them , again , an Amp should solve this.

On top of the amp, you're gonna need to buy a wiring kit to power up that amp, and a converter if youre gonna keep the stock cd player.

Just so I dont give you info you may already have, how much do you know about car audio basics?

WHen you buy an amp, you'll need 4 things to get it to power your subs, hence the wiring kit i mentioned.
1. power wire, connected to the car battery
2.ground, connected to a clean bare metal area of the cars chassis
3.remote wire, this is how the amp turns on and off with your deck.
4. RCA cables that run to the rear sub/non fader rca's in the back of your deck

The rca's are plugged to the amp, and the amp also has speaker outputs, these are what you connect to the 'spring loaded terminals' you are refering to.

It seems like you just want some more bass, but like Cerberus said, dont wanna break it to you, but its not qutie as simple as you may have thought.
Hope that helps though.

Stock speakers will blow if you do that , they wont hold big amps.

Wattage is not a referance and there no law to regulate it, its how much you pay for it basicly.

Phoenix Gold Amp 2 x 50 watts for 500$ could be compared to a low cost crap amp 3000 watts to have the same amount of power.

just a 50-100watts average amp (pionneer-kenwood) is more the enough for that box.

Sound is money.

Save some cash, get a good set of speakers and a known brand 4-channel amp to power them (infinity, jbl, polk...just not something you see at an auto parts store on the shelf).

Later on you can get a 10 or 12 inch sub, throw it in a nice sealed/ported box and get another good amp to power it. A nice lenght of meety power cable, some RCA's...and you'd work yourself up to a very tight system.

Really, like others have said, you get what you pay for. Upgrading your stereo is one of those things that just sort of dominos. You get one nice thing, like speakers...and then another nice thing, like an amp to compliment your first purchase...and so on. Until you're happy with the result.

Top two are of my sub/amp setup. It ain't pretty, but you're looking at roughly $1300 worth of equipment. $800 for the amp, $400 for the sub, and $100 for the box. It may seem like a lot, but some of the folk here will testify that it's pretty damn loud. Hit 138.9db using the Gorillaz "Clint Eastwood"...

In the other pic, if you look closely, you'll see my door speaker (tweeter's mounted in the sail panel up top). Boston Pro SL-60s....run ya about $200 for a set, including crossovers. Sound quality, even run off the head unit (I don't amp my mids and highs, and it's plenty loud enough).

Now...throw in the head unit (cheesy Wal-Mart pioneer....$150) and the rear speakers (Pioneer Tri-Axs...roughly $150) and it adds up...not to mention the wiring for the sub and all that. I'm sitting roughly about $2k for the entire setup, with me installing all of it. If you have it installed by someone else, figure another $100-$300.

Just like with the rest of the car....how loud can you afford to go?

I need aftermarket front components and then I'm done with my system. That will have to wait for a little while as I've already got over a grand in it.

Dont go cheap with audio. Just take your time and start out easy with some speakers that will fit in the factory openings and then save up for a new head unit to replace the factory one. But don't buy the cheapest things you find... even I started out with Jensen speakers and reciever 4 years ago. WOW :oogle:

SuperHO is that RF Power amp?

Yep! 501bd, baby....makes LOTS o power.

And yeah....start small and work your way up. I used to run with low budget crap.....till I realized what a difference in sound quality there was. Now I've no problem spending absurb amounts of money for the good stuff.

you're obviously dont wanna spend a ton of money on just a sub and an amp,
so I'd suggest doing some reading, then looking on ebay for some of this stuff.
You can get an Infinity Perfect 12inch for like 100bucks shipped, and it's a nice sub.
Hook up a JBL BP300.1 or even a 600.1 if you got the money and want some extra power for the future, and you should be under 200bucks for sub and amp. A descent box shouldnt be anymore than 50bucks.
