i am new to shoville. owned this 97 less than 3 mos. i am interested in the subframe connector upgrade or whatever it is. i was toldsubframe connects would help me out? i already snagged a rear sway out of a 90 SHO. i heard they r bigger, looks easy to install.. i am just wondering what i am looking at to install or modify the subframe connectors. this sho kinda wallows like a huge boat in the tight twistys.
56k on it. struts seem tight.. they make poly bushing kits for these cars?

on a welding note... i found a guy to weld my cams in providence ri. guy is a wizard of metals in a huge way. he didnt even blink when he saw the cams....said no problem. right after xmas i am getting them done. and man is the price right!!! i'll shed more light on it after he welds them. he may even be interested in helping others out. thumbs_u

Since the Gen III Taurus is built on a seamless design, it's very sturdy. Even the front strut tower braces we offered in the past were not that effective, just more of a cosmetic item. I wouldn't waste the money on getting a set made.

that's great, he can weld metal. Go to Kirk, seriously. Kirk does alot of other work while doing the cams, and he checks to make sure they are lined up correctly also.

Who's going to disassemble to get at the cams? The fact that he is a welder is great. I can hold my own, too, but I don't know the first thing about disassembly. Trust all the other opinions here. At least talk to Kirk before you decide. It's not as simple as ripping off a valve cover and welding the sprocket.

As far as the STB and subframe connectors go, I noticed a big difference when I installed my STB on my 97 SLO, and SHOZ123 has proclaimed great results with a combo of a STB and subframe connectors.

I'm unsure about poly bushings.

Tom.

I have one of your FSTB and could immediately feel the effects. I currently don't have it on my car and am missing it terribly. I also have the shortly rear subframe connectors. Again a tremendous improvement. The only thing I've done that I didn't see a big improvement with is the solid front subframe bushings.

Evil Sneak, goto Kirk he will take care of you. No one is going to know how to take the engine apart.

Kirk did the weld on my car. He is very experienced with this engine and you can be sure the job WILL be done right. If you have any questions you are welcome to drop me a line. Also I'm sure Kirk would be willing to answer your questions too via email.

No offense to the welder but I would personally go to someone that has already done this before to prevent something from happening like what you saw from sho shop or warping the cams. Just my opinion.

The statement from Tom should have ended with a IMHO.

Seamless? it has 2 main seams that run down the entire length of the car, while they are built much stronger that the older SHOs they can and will benifeit from a bar and the connectors.

I have riden in Pauls cars with and without ( not a race speed) but you can feel the difference. Demand - would surely be there if the parts werent made to expensive to buy. The Gen 3 is a limited production car and from a money making standpoint Toms comment is correct (not enough profeit in it) but for a person that wants a better handeling car its the way to go.

There are new vendors that are making this stuff, cheapier and more resonably priced, stay tuned this year because you will have many options for the GEN 3, stuff that fits and works.

IMHO should be the disclaimer since every little thing I say seems to turn into a flame nowadays in here wink . I had our front strut tower brace on my previous '96 SHO, I also looked into subframe connectors on the SHO. My opinion? The front strut tower brace didn't do a thing except look pretty. The Gen III SHOs are plenty stiff enough. You're on your own on the subframe connectors - I don't think they're needed at all.

Again, this is IMHO

Come on Tom I was trying to be diplomatic here, no flames meant. But because one person tries something and they dont like it dont mean it dont work. People that have them love them as you know the majority rules.

I think maybe you need a zolof (SP) relax a bit and dont look at everything as a flame. If I said that the SHO Shop has less expirence than other places would you take that as a flame or someone telling the truth? its all in how you read into it. If your always expecting a flame you will read everything as a flame.

Kirk,

I was not singling you out at all, you took it entirely the wrong way. That's the problem with forums - sarcasm does not carry over well and people take comments way too personally.
