I recently got a 3.2 balance pipe from the junk yard and replaced it with the orignal. I took off the DIS module and put it on the newer balance pipe. A little while after it started stumbling, I put in different cam sensor and that kind of fixed it. Now all the car is doing is sputtering through all rpm ranges and it feels like it’s on five cylinders or maybe misfireing. I bought a new cam sensor, worked for about 30 minutes and now it’s back to the way it was....sputtering. Did taking the DIS off play a role in this? I did use the search feature too and nothing came up.

Try resetting the computer by disconnecting the battery for about 5 mins. and see if that helps.

Sounds familiar to a recent post.

He finally found that he used a bolt that was too short to fasten that tube the DIS is mounted to the intake, resulting in a bad DIS ground.

Make certain that you have BARE METAL CONTACT between that mounting ****** and the intake manifold and a nice, clean, proper length bolt.

ok, i resanded the flanges and balance pipe, that did not work....whats happening is it idles fine, sometimes drives on all six, but most of the time it sputters. this is a long shot and probably wrong but could it be the throttle position sensor? i know that if it was bad it just wouldnt let me acclerate and it would then bog.....but could that be the problem. im wondering if its the wires....maybe when more spark is need to go the wire gives out? or could i maybe have a bad plug???? its killing me

I got the same problem dude- but i have new wires and plugs and new throttle sensor.. and i have no clue what the fix is- i wonder if its the maf or act or o2 sensors.. i know its fule and air related cuz it gets worse the more throttle u give it- almost like ur flooding the engine- since my gas mileage stinks im gonna replace the o2 first and see what happens- it really is annoyning trying to accelerate and go no where-

You mentioned that the problem did not appear until you swapped the balance tubes. You created the condition with your work on the balance tube. Why look elsewhere for the problem?

The problem sounds like a poor ground to the DIS module or a bad electrical connection to the module. Double check the ground strap, bolts and mouting screws to the DIS. There should be a light coating of heat sink grease between the DIS module and the balance tube. Also check the condition and tightness of the electrical connectors on the DIS.

ok, i sanded down all the tabs that hold the balance pipe to the intake......however i didnt put that grease on the dis. whats happening is the car is loosing a cylinder, is that a problem caused by a ungrounded dis???? like i said too, the car runs fine when the engine hasnt been ran for a day once it warms up....blah
