Ok, I have double checked everything. The plug wires are correct, and all hoses are hoked up the grounds are good and I didn't remove the dis module.
The reason I think the injectors aren't working is that, with the front plugs removed and someone cranking the engine, there isn't any puff of fuel or the smell of fuel comming from the plug holes.

Well then your next step is to see how much pressure is in the fuel rail during the one second that the fuel pump is running when you hit the start key. There is a Schrader type valve on top of the fuel rail, right behind the throttle body. Stick a tire guage on it while your cranking. If you don't see at least 25 pounds of pressure, there is a problem with your fuel pressure regulator; that's the little round diaphram valve at the other end of the fuel rail that has the vacuum hose on it. Let us know what pressures you find.

Hey man... seriously.. don't get discouraged.. there's something simple there, and your just over looking it. I rebuilt my entire engine, and it wouldn't fire when I wanted it to either.. tore the entire thing down to check all my timing marks and everything. Still don't know what it was that I changed, but it fired right up when it was all back together.

Good luck.. you'll find it soon enough... no worries..

also.. when mine sits for a while, it wants to be a pain to start... try holding the gas to the floor for a few cranks, then try it normally again.. (just incase you flooded it maybe) ? Mine is strange sometimes about it... just keep picking at it... it ran before, it'll run again....

AIR, Fuel, Spark... The Basics!

Have you tested for spark?
Have you depressed the Schrader to see if there is fuel in the rail?
is there a rag in the intake blocking it?

A pic is worth a 1000 words.. take some close up pics and post them.

My bet is the ground..... take a set of jumper cables and attch it to the intake, then attach it to the Batt and she if she lites off.

Ground ONLY..

Ok I checked the fuel pressure and it's 40lbs. I sprayed starting fluid in the TB and it started and ran till all the fluid burned up. This is why I think the injectors aren't working. I have checked all wiring connections thinking there may be a short or something and still nothing....

Yes I have a spark, I have good fuel pressure, ground is good, It runs with starting fluid.

check the connections against the fire wall that are on the metal bracket that bolts to the intake where the ground strap goes there are 3 big connectors and 1 small connector make sure none of those came on hooked we are going to Raleigh this weekend to pick up some motors and trannys how far are you from there?

While someone else is cranking it, aim the starting fluid at the throttle plate from about 3' away. This gives you a diluted mixture. Just use short bursts, just enough to keep it running. The injectors are probably just clogged from not running for so long. After a while, enough injectors will be shooting to keep it running on its own.

Thanks for the suggestion I will try it tomorrow. It sat for two weeks with the intake off and no battery.

I tried this today it runs as long as I spray starting fluid into the TB but as soon as I stop it cuts off. Any other suggestions?

When you goto start the engine, is the check engine light dim or fairly bright during cranking?

Pull the codes from the computer - all you need is a paper clip

http://www.shophoenixproject.com/eec/eec.htm

And the engine does not have to be running or warmed up to pull the KOEO codes. Let us know what numbers you get and what year / model the SHO is.

It hasn't rained in NC for quite a while so I don't think anything got wet :)

It is a 94 ATX. The check engine light is bright. I have a code scanner and there aren't any codes that was the one of the first things I checked.

SHO won't start

tough problem.

here is another 2c worth. does the engine seem to run normally (not ragged) with the starting fluid? if the engine will run with starting fluid sprayed into the TB, then it sounds like you have air+ spark (meaning ground is not the problem). since there is fuel pressure at the rails, you have a problem with the injectors. either they are not being signaled to fire (electrical problem) or they are clogged.

i think there was a post within the last year about testing the injectors one at a time (?with the intake off)... disconnecting the DIS so no spark, then using a remote switch to start the engine with the injectors disconnected from the engine. let me see if i can find this.

alternatively, pull the intake, and replace the injectors with a clean, freshly balanced set. I might be able to dig up a set here in central NC for you to try.

Paul & Ashley (NCtaurusSHO) in Eliz City are a great local SHO mechanics, if you get frustrated give them a PM.

Thanks for the info. I have a 93 atx parts car that I can pull injectors from if I need them, I will test the injectors when I get home today if the weather holds-up.

I think I may have found the problem. I checked the injectors and they aren't geting any power, I had to get a injector plug from a junker and the injectors sprayed fine. So I started unpluging the connectors in the black bracket (on the back side of the intake that bolts to the intake) I looked at all the pins in the connectors, and one of the pins in the small round black was broke an stuck in the female connector. So tomorrow I will solder in a new connector from the parts car I have, and give it a try.
