If you don't mind it taking few tries to start your car, the cam position sensor tells the ECU when to spark so the engine starts. It's one of many sensors that helps the engine to start and run. There are instructions on the forum how to change the cam seal or you can look up Shophoenix project and there were some pictures of how to do the front 60K. In the instructions, he changes all the cam seals. It's a hall effect sensor, so when you replace it, the signals to the ECU will work again.
