1992 SHO MTX. Been sitting on my drive for a couple of years since the Alternator died. Every now and then I charge the battery and start it up. I did that a couple of days ago but after moving it up and down my drive on and parking it back in its spot it just died and, even with starter fluid, will not kick over or even cough. I assume this is some type of ignition problem. The starter fluid should rule out lack of fuel, correct?

Gave it a couple of days to "rest" and tried again this morning with same negative results.

Any suggestions?

When cranking does the tach needle move at all? if it does you can rule out the cam sensor at least. also with the key turned to run does the fuel pump pwr on, you should hear it. could also be spark or crank sensor.... have you pulled codes?

The tach needle initially jumps up. When key turned on the usual fuel pump noise is there. I haven't pulled the codes - I'll do that next (I hate the counting lights thing, about to order code reader from Amazon).

Codes 157 and 211 - Mass Air Sensor low voltage and PPP circuit fault

Also got 114 and 116, but those are expected as they indicate low temps and the car is sitting out in 35 deg weather and hasn't been run.

So - suggestions please on how to get to and fix the Mass Air Sensor (might be a bad/broken connection?) and the Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP). The air filter container had some acorns in it, so I'm thinking the little critters may have been chewing on wiring.

Thanks for any help and Merry Christmas to all!

Thanks again for all your help.

Merry Christmas (nice present for me)!
