I keep getting code 212 Open SPOUT signal or grounded signal. Is there a prefered procedure for checking this? I get continuity to ground from some of the plug wires at the ignition box but I'm not sure which is which, etc. Any ideas welcome. car drives OK except for some pinging under load.

It doesnt get any easier than this...but it does take time to fix. Proper procedure is not just to guess or throw parts at it.

Thanks for the info. I am unfamiliar with all the terminolgy but thats ok I can learn it.

Looking back and not trying to hijack... I just remembered when i did the KOER test I failed to let the car warmup first.. since the ECT is new I am guessing thats why it was shown faulty...

Also since I just went through all the grounds and redid them with non corrosive conductive koppershield I also forgot to plug the DIS in before I tried to start it...

I have yet to reclear the codes since then and am guessing that may be why I got code 212.

So I will clear the codes again one more time. Reset the idle (just to make sure) and then let her go for a week or two before I reread them.

Straight from the Ford PCED....

Thanks for the information and the advice. There goes my weekend, but it's good to at least have some direction.

Yea, Fords instructions are difficult sometimes, but they send you in a direction for a reason...so try not to guess...perform all the checks they recommend and you should be able to find the concern. Good luck!
