Changed my plugs on the weekend without removing the Intake Manifold. One Leson Learned is that ensure that the washer comes out with the plug, older gerneration '32PP. One washer remained in the middle cyclinder of the rear bank and during hand turning and ratchet seating one could feal a difference.

What is the torque range specification for seating spark plugs in a 3.0 L '94 MTX ?

Im not sure of the actual torque recommendations, but Im sure that most would say "snug" :D

You do not want to strip those threads.

I also put a small coating of anti-seize on the threads of the plug as well :thumb:

A general rule of thumb for plugs that use crush type washers is to turn the ratchet 90 degrees from the point of contact.

I go about 90* from contact, back it of, then snug it up again to get a good seat. I nice snug fit is all thats needed. I use high-temp (copper) neversieze on the threads and die-electric grease in the plug wires and boots.

Spark plug specified foot pounds of torque = 17 ft. lbs to 19 ft. lbs. for the 3.0 liter Gen I SHO engine. The specs for the Gen II and Gen III should be similar but check a service manual to be shure. Spark plugs should be torqued with a torque wrench, not guessed at.

The use of anti-sieze compound on the threads, and the use of dielectric grease inside the plug boots, are excellent ideas. rangerj

I've noticed that ALL bolts that mount to the aluminum engine block and head should not be torqued beyond 17lb-ft.

That includes the spark plugs (though someone mentioned 19 lb-ft, could be an exception to this rule), ALL manifold bolts and ALL oil pan bolts.

Remember to anti-seize the spark plugs before mounting them.
