I feel your pain, but you are toughing it out like a man, I had the easy way out with a 1000F heat gun that made that shit slide off like butter. I would highly recommend buying one from Home Depot or Lowes (whichever is in your area) or at least try a hair dryer, it will make your life so much eeeeeeeasier.shorook90:
well,
guys I started stripping the sho today! man it is really tedious.(boy does my back hurt, and my knuckles are bloody too) I spent about two hours and got up about a couple square feet. It is about five pounds. I have a question thouhg. There seems to be three different kinds. there is one that is really black and foamy, there is one that is black and tar-like, and there is one that is gray and rubbery. This is in the trunk by the way. the foamy one was were the spare was and the tar was on the trunk floor and the rubber was on the sides of the trunk. My question is do different materials react better to different things like water heat. So far I have only been using a butter knife and my bare hands. Any info will help. thanks everyone.
Yo man, I'm happy to help out, yeah, wait until you rip out the carpet and get up onto the firewall and under the pedals, have fun, that shit took me a couple of days to do it all so I had to drive around with all metal floors and one seat, LOL, but it was worth it though. It wouldn't have been so bad to do the floors but all of the damn patterns that are stamped into the floor pan are crazy.shorook90:
yo chris you da man! no but seriously I just went down to harbor frieghts and bought a heat gun. man can I tell a difference. Although I burnt myself a couple of times it was worth it. I got all of the tar up. (no prob. pells like an orange) but I tried to get the rubbery stuff with the heat gun but it just started smoking. so I lowered it from a 1000 degrees to 600. it started working but then after about 30 secs. it started to smoke too. any thoughts? did yours smoke too? well at the end of the day I have the whole trunk done and am about 12 pounds lighter. (one whole bag) thanks chris!
