Depends on what you're doing and what you want.

When it comes to the SHO there are only 2 options, sacrifice and take whats out there, or spend time and fab your own. I keep hoping the explorer market takes off and drags the SHO with it.

Hi Mike. Just curious why you went with five star. I've only been on here for a few months and haven't heard anything mentioned about them. Since I'm potentially in the market in the next 6 month or so do you think there's a good reason I should consider them instead of AJP, Gearhead, or Ortiz? (All of whom I've read very favorable reviews). I may be leaving out one or two others but those are at the top of my mind. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I don’t recall which member it is but one person on here has those. He mentioned he liked them more than the Megan brand coil overs.

I am sure 5 star will be okay. However, if they were a prominent tuner in the SHO world most of us would recommend them. We don't, because they aren't. You can go with a proven tuner on our platform, or you can go with a run of the mill F150 tuner. Choice is yours.

Well...before go that route...think about what you're getting. Most folks buy coil over kits to say they have them...they never actually utilize their functionality. A set of springs is fine for 99% of us. Adjustable Coilovers are so you can tune your handling characteristics to specific track conditions (a track that has all left turns, a bumpy/gravely track, a smooth and even track with long high speed turns, a tight technical low speed track, etc)

If that's not you, coilovers are kind of a waste of money. What do you want from your car?

Springs without matched shocks are a waste. Lowering a car with chopped springs is not the smartest move either. Its unlikely to get full extension under normal use but man the risk is there.....

Also most springs aren't matched with proper rate for anything beyond groceries and casual use.

Agreed. But. Depending on what someone wants, stock shocks (with less than 50,000 miles) can provide all that is needed. If all you want is the stance, new springs, or cutting the existing ones...will get you there.

Not what I would ever advise, but...lots of people do it, with no issues. However, shocks "fatigue" faster than springs. 50+ thousand miles, with brand new springs but old shocks...better dodge those potholes on the interstate...especially if lowered!

Yeah, I'm always "shocked" that almost noone replaces shocks even at 100k plus

When I replace my Springs with H&R I changed everything new struts new shocks hub bearings axles I did the works maybe Overkill but at least I know I'm not going to be messing with those for the next 5 years or so.

So the sway bar story...bigger is better right? So I thought. I bought the stiffest sway bar I could find and took it for a spin. Under hard cornering you could lift the rear tire about 4 inches off the ground. Ill say it added some excitement and extra grip to my seat.

I did the same to my old car, then got rid of it. With the stiffer rear bar, it tended toward understeer. Then I tried NO rear sway...super unpredictable...snap over stead at the slightest fluctuation of gas in a turn. Then went back to stock...perfection. Neutral (ish).
