Drove it for only the second time this week. My dad decided to hang up his keys and gave me his 1992 F150.

Last night, started my Drive Bright DRL install. I'll post pics later, but I extended two wires on the harness so that I could mount the control box out of sight under the air cleaner box. I also figured a way to get the fuse tap wire out of the fuse box so it's not visible.

got some new black center caps for my wheels, but turns out they do not fit my 2010-2012 wheels. They would fit a 2013 and up I believe, if anybody wants them, let me know!
Also, if anyone knows which center caps would fit my wheels, would be a great help!

Well, I'd like to say that persistence pays off.

I was this/close to giving up on acquiring these. However, I am happy to report that after 2yrs and 2 trips to the National's, my follow through has finally paid off.

I received my final "proof" of artwork today for these teardrop style banners, that I am looking to incorporate into my display.....

I saw these at last year's (2017) Ford National's, and once again this year, at the 2018 Nat's.

After several vested hours of phone calls, emails, etc. I am glad to know these are going to production, and have a 9-10 day time frame before they ship out.

Oh yea, they're 10 feet tall, and come with their own individual carry cases.

So a good day today for the SHO display!

Installing amber LED strips behind the grilles and in the wheel wells.
I thought this would be an easy one-day job. Turns out there is a lot of planning, testing, measuring, soldering, etc involved in doing this properly and getting it to look the way I want it to.
Now it's 90' outside for the next 7 days. Probably 100'+ in my garage. Doing it with the garage door closed so I can turn the lights off to test in the dark.

Anyone know if there is a good switched fuse to tap under the hood for the LEDs? I'd hate to have to go through the firewall for this, but I haven't decided on power source yet. Tapping the dome or puddle lights is an option.

My car has remote start from the factory, but it would be great to have a longer range and cell phone ability to ensure the doors are locked, etc...

It’s a system from Ford that they market very poorly. The problem is finding a dealer that knows anything about them because the SIM in the cell module needs to be activated. Then you sign up for an account and download the app. http://www.fordremoteaccess.com/en/ You need 2 parts to make it work, the perimeter alarm module that plugs inline with the OBDII connector, and the RMU module that plugs into the alarm module. The part numbers are

DL3Z-19A361-A (VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM- FORD PERIMETER PLUS MODULE)

DL3Z-19A390-B (REMOTE MESSAGING UNIT).

They are getting harder to find since Ford has a new system coming out that includes vehicle tracking and ability to monitor fuel levels, etc remotely, but the service is much more expensive. My system costs $49 Canadian a year for the service, which is about 38 bucks now. The new system is $16.99 a month + $150 activation and you can hardly find them anywhere. You can still find the old system on eBay. Don’t worry about if it says it’s for another car. It’s the part numbers that matter.

Installation takes 20 minutes. Just pop the knee panel under the steering wheel off after removing 2 screws, unscrew the OBD port, plug in the T harness, screw the new OBD port back, and mount the alarm and rmu module. I used cable ties to mount the alarm and Velcro to mount the RMU.

If you want this, hurry. The parts are drying up and I don’t think they’re gonna make this system anymore.

Lock, unlock, horn honk to find car, and start. It has glass breakage and shock, and also will send you a text if the alarm is triggered. The install couldn’t be easier. I’m not familiar with the previous version. You have to buy the perimeter alarm module even if the car already has an alarm because the RMU interfaces with it. It has to be activated at a dealer but the car does not have to physically be there. They just need the SIM ID and VIN and can activate remotely. They will activate it and give you a 4 digit PIN. You put the PIN and SIM ID in the app, and you get 3 days of service for free. Then you have to pay for a year of service at a time on the Ford remote access site.

It will come with a jumper. Don’t install it even if the seller tells you to. That disables the alarm function. Also, turn the shock adjustment pretty low or you will get texts every time a Harley goes by. Lol

I did a PTU fluid swap, and I cut the rear springs in an attempt to level the car. Unfortunately, I didn't cut enough (I was being cautious), I cut 5.5 inches. So I will probably be cutting out another 1.5 inches. The PP's springs are alot stiffer.

Now before anyone jumps my case about cutting springs.......you can cut the rear ones with no issues. I don't want the H&R springs, because I drive alot of miles. Ground clearance is important to, and even on at stock ride height, I still get a bit of drag backing out our my driveway even sideways. I just want the car level.
