Busted a nut. Need some advice. Thermostat housing top bolt head snapped off. Still has enough shaft to grab with vice grips but vice grips keep turning around shaft not turning it out. Any ideals?

I would be concerned about the threading inside the houseing... Those nuts should not be so tight they snap heads... Cross threaded?

You could try filing down two sides of the screw and using a wrench if vice grips are not working....maybe bigger vice grips? Something to bite down into the screw...

Heat.
Intake is aluminum bolt is steel, shouldn't take to much heat to loosen it up. Just make sure the vise grips are not on the bolt when heating or you will be sorry lol

Or if you are filing down the 2 sides you could then try the vise grips again. This would let them grab a hold of the bolt a lot tighter and leas chance of slipping.

Gave it a much needed bath. Really needs a hard pass with M105 but due to time, I hit it with M205 and that took a few fine swirls out. Then topped it with 2 coats of Blackfire Crystal Seal (my first time ever using it) and we'll see how the stuff lasts. Tires dressed with Chemical Guys VRP per a friends recommendation. Also have some go fast goodies to install later in the week once I get my device transferred to my car.

That thing must have been heavily cross threaded in from the factory or something. Mine came out with ease with a 1/4" drive socket wrench when my car was over 3 years old.

Had to be. Bottom one was fine. Even tried a friend at Monroe. He has a Vise grip for round things like that but was too big. Ford putting so small of bolt on there is crazy

It is strange that they used such a small bolt. Even our little Honda Fit has 10mm bolts for the thermostat.

At dealership thermostat bolt is cross threaded. 2 HR job. How often is something cross threaded from factory? Make me wonder if anything else is cross threaded

I suspected that might be the case, those bolts are small... no reason for them to get stuck like that... good luck! Are they charging you?
