Heat related, replace the DIS first before diving into the Crank Sensor. Quick, easy test.

Take a look right in front of your throttle body it has a greyish playtic cover over it, it's where all your spark plug wires run too.

That is a description of the coil pack.

The DIS module is the unit that is screwed to the intake balance tube. It has the words "Motorcraft DIS" on the side. Also, do you have a leak at your water pump? A leaky water pump will cause the CPS to die in the same manner that you are describing. If your car has not had it's 60/100k, this is your que to start doing the required maintenance.

You should run the EEC codes when the engine is unable to start and find out what is not doing its job. See the link in my signature for the test procedure that only requires a jumper wire and the ignition key.

I am wondering if the fuel pump could be involved in this problem. When the engine won't start, can you hear the fuel pump in the fuel tank whine when the ignition key is turned to ON?
