SHO won't shut off !!!

Hi everyone,

Ive got quite an interesting first post...

Last night I came home to drop off my SHO and it woud not shut off... I could take the key out of the ignition and the engine would still run. I decided to leave it running cause it was low on fuel anyways but about 20 minutes later I thought of pulling the fuse for the fuel pump. So I had my friend drive me back to my house and I searched in vain for a fuel pump fuse... Not finding one I just decided to pull the ECU fuse and the motor died, then I disconnected the battery.

This afternoon I disassembled the steering column thinking it was something wrong with the ignition switch and it appears to be, im about to remove the ignition switch module and test it with a multimeter. My question is there anything else that can cause this and has it happened to anyone else on this forum ? Also can anyone get me a good price on a replacement ignition module from Ford, provided that it is the problem ?

Ugh Found the culprit...

its not the ignition module but this stupid plastic slider bar that moves back and forth when you rotate the key. Does anyone know an easy way to get this thing out ? :cry:

Exact thing happend to me two weeks ago, We bit the bullet and had somone do it for us. It cost us a little over 180 bucks with a labor rate of 60 bucks an hour. The part was 12 dollars. They had to take apart the whole steering coulumn.

Yeah ive got the steering column dropped and all the plastic off but can't figure out how to get that plastic bar out of there. You should not of told me the price of the part, now im more determined than ever to replace it myself.

But in all seriousness I think im gonna have it done at a shop, I can start/stop the engine by flicking the ignition module on/off but the car looks like a theft recovery. Was that work done at a Ford dealership or at a independent shop?

Do a search on the forum for SHODWN. That is Kirk Doucette. He has a shop in Spencer. Does pretty damn good work too.
