hello i have a 93 sho atax that i just bought and i am having trouble to make it idle.
When i start the car it would idle for few seconds then dies. Here is what i did so far to try to fix it, some needed replacment anyway other parts were me trying to gues whta could be wrong.
Spark plugs new
EGR new
ICV(idle control valve thing)new
coil pack used
checked all vacum hoses, everything ok
sometimes it will idle for few minutes but when i shift in the drive it dies. the only way it will stay running is if i hold the throtle, but strangly i can keep the engine idling at 500rpms if i hold the throtle barely but as soon as i let go it dies.
HELP!!!!!

Codes? Start with the codes. Might save you the trouble of replacing what could be otherwise good parts.

You could also try resetting the idle speed program, search the forum for 'idle reset'.

Here is the update.
i checked the car for codes and this is what came up 556 and 542 fuel pump circut failure.
So i replaced the Integrated control module and still not running.
i also changed the mas air sensor, TPS, and the big siler sensor on the intake. No change,
but now when i run the codes it doesnt show any codes in memory.
what should i do next?

well it seems like you might have to drop the tank and put a new fuel pump in there. but check the cutoff valve in your trunk first, who knows, maybe it tripped somehow. good luck man.

85% of fixing something is finding out what is wrong

You are just throwing money at the car without knowing what is wrong.

The engine wouldn't start if the inertia switch had been tripped. The codes said your car has stalled (but you already knew that) an that there was a problem with the fuel pump primary circuit, so the new ICRM should have solved that.

The fuel pump or pressure is suspect. Get the pressure checked or replace the pump and filter. I would try the filter first.

My buddy just bought a '93 ATX that sat for the last 4years straight. His was doing the same thing. So, What we did was went to VIP or NAPA and bought Valvoline Synthetic Carb cleaner. (won't hurt the lining in your Intake plenum) We performed a decarbon procedure and that fixed the problem. Also, we ran the MOBIL1 Injector Cleaner w/ Sunoco 94 for a while. Did the Trick. Good luck
