We do need some more orders. This has been done before and we can do it again.

I thought with no ATX y-pipes there would be some demand but with this lack of demand I can see why there are no real options out there. If we can get at least 10 ATX orders we can couple it with the MTX orders.

yup, I guess I should add that I decided on straight up shorties too (I don't see those being offered any time soon). I wanted to be able to bolt any y-pipe that I want right on, be it equal length or stock. It leaves options open and make things easier (cheaper) as far as building the exhaust system up. Power differences vs long tubes will be minimal, and from all the research and what I am going through with these shorties, I am sure they will make excellent power. I Figured at the worst I will lose a little high end, but I won't lose as much low end, which coupled with my stage 2 cams, probably will help balance it out and make my car more streetable.

This really doesn't make much sense...

shorties = gain low end tq, lose some high end hp

stage 2 cams= lose low end tq, gain high end hp

put the 2 together it helps balance the power out vs having long tubes and stage 2 cams, which tend to lose a ton of low end tq. Make sense now, or am I still in my own little world?

I know on the V6 mustang there are 0 gains with shorty headers. The SHO manifolds are pretty much as shorty header as one can get. I'd just do it for the weight loss, not the performance gain.

it will certainly sound better, and yeah also lighter (off the front end and up semi high too), and mine are completely custom and will be a tuned (length varies by firing order) equal length(ish) setup. I know they will gain something for sure, I am over 300 flywheel hp now (at least the mods I have should easily be making that, haven't dynoed it yet still needs a good tune) add headers to the mix I am sure they will help. I want every possible N/A mod possible which is really the only reason I am doing them, because I am sure the dollar to hp ratio is pretty bad.

EDIT: I am also thinking of dynoing my car before and after the install, so I will know for sure what they did ;)

all your doing is choking the high end of the powerband, where the cams shine......

if your complaining about the loss of low end already, and your not gonna take advantage of your motors powerband...... why even have the cams?

thats my point....

because they make a lot more power then stock or stage ones; the headers I design will not choke the engine believe me. A correctly designed short tube, coupled with this equal length y, will be just as effective as a long tube.

Oh and as far as the powerband, I have had this engine at 7600 already so I am revving it believe me, and it has a stock y pipe and manifolds on it now, so I know the short tubes will gain a lot over that. The reason I want SOME low end is it is a street car, but I do want some good top end for when I want to play.

man I'd just be maximizing the top end, thats where your gonna see the most gains...

your right it is going to be an improvement over what you have now........

I did, then after I drove the car I realized I really killed the drive ability, so I am trying to kind of get back some low end without changing cams or something. Short tubes are also nice because I can swap between y pipes, catted for the street, catless at the track, stock if I need to or w/e. Also shorties have better ground clearance then longs and my car is lowered enough that I bottom it out sometimes as it is, believe me I have weighed the pros and cons. Lets keep this convo up though, keep giving this thread a bump, maybe people will pay up:rofl:

Oh and lets not forget that my power band is pretty much already requiring me to rev to 8k+ to maximize the engine's power band, I'd like to bring that back down a little more.

that be me..... I told u I'd pay u as soon as the check cleared... I checked like every 2 hours online at my bank lol.......

I see your point, but you can't honestly say your engine only moves from 8krpm's and up, if it does that insane, I've never ridden in a +40 cam car... but I've seen some dyno charts and it doesn't look that bad....... shit it makes more power then a stock SHO all over...........
