Definitely won't be able to do it on my own. Don't have the money, trailer and truck. I'm looking for help from the BaySHO club: so far no interest, but a number of people are still out of town for the Holidays.

Nick

Yeah I understand.

If I had the time and money also, same boat as you, I would definitely be helping out. That would be a fun project to dig into to.

The SHO seems pretty competitive with the LeMons event, unfortunately. It's really just because the market value is so terrible that they can slip under the $500 for a decent running (compared to the competition) car.

Tim, I think Nick already has a car in his garage he was considering to build into a LeMons racer. I'm very much interested in running a second car, but I too don't have the money to put towards the event on top of my other SHO expenditures.

I'm rather interested, and I might be able to throw a few dollars at the project, my problem right now is that I've got more projects and commitments right now than time. Just in the car arena I've got four project cars going right now (if you include the white SHO in that mix.) So I'm still chewing on it.

When is the nest LeMons race scheduled for and where will you all be racing it?

Ernie

The next race is at Altamont Motorsports Park, Tracy CA on May 10-11, 2008, but neither us nor GI SHO from Portland are planning to enter.

Altamont is a 1/2 mile oval. Imagine 75+ cars on that short a track: pretty much a demolition derby where you have to barge your way through to make any progress. We value our SHOs too much!

There are other races during the year at various locations, but the only one we plan to participate in is at Thunderhill Raceway Park, an hour north of Sacramento in October. We only used 1/2 the track, but even that was 1 1/4 miles long. Still fairly crowded at the beginning but a wider track than Altamont and thinned out nicely due to attrition.

Yes, that's what happens when you bring a ex-race car to the event with race motor and coil overs, they were foulish enough to show just how fast it was during the first part of the event. Each team gets to vote for 1 car to recieve the "People Curse" award. The mazda 626 was the winner  They also make you take the scrape home with you-

It's been quite a while already, but I finally decided to whip up a logo for the team. It'd be great if you made some vinyls like this to stick on the car. I'm also going to use the image in the footage I took at the race. I'm finally getting those videos together.

Here's a link to one of the shorter (and with poorer footage) videos. I had too much fun with the titles:

Awesome job. :thumb:

I want to get some vinyl stickers made.

The GI SHO will be at the convention for those who want to see it in person.

It was very fun to spectate. Lots of extended periods of caution. Was great to see two SHOs tearin it up out there. I don't have my camera cable with me today but I'll try to post some pics soon. I have a good flyby vid with both SHOs in it, but you don't really hear the V8 on it because a yellow came out.

It was fun to participate. We ran at Altamont, too. We garnered a -2100 lap penalty for THill due to our lack of an acceptable $500 pedigree. We were pretty much guaranteed last place, behind even the guys DQ'ed for running R-compound tires. Thanks to the guys at SHOSource.com for some sponsorship help.

Well I finally took the time to find my camera cable and upload pics and video. There are over 50 pics in the album, and I have not organized them yet so you might have to search for the GI SHO and Skunk SHO pics. And as far as videos, they are all flybys of the GISHO and Skunk SHO except for the 'crushing' of the 5 speed crown vic - not sure though. Not too many quality action shots due to my lack of a tripod, but you can judge for yourself.

The good vid of both SHOs coming out of a turn:

All pics and vids were taken by me I reserve all rights to rename, alter, defame, or otherwise ridicule and make up stories about them. And no, I don't care if you download/post elsewhere/host them yourselves without crediting me as long as my photobucket bandwidth is not exceeded.
PS: I will at some point (months later) rename these so I would advise hosting them yourself for posting on other sites to avoid broken links.

They had a functional stink quirter too. We got it all over the car and it smelled for about a week.

anybody see this team?: http://www.myspace.com/team_zip_tie
They just posted all of the teams and their cars for the first two 2009 races on Jalopnik.com and I saw a 92 SHO on the list and that is their page.

LeMons is a blast. My team & I raced an '87 RX7 in the Toledo-Detorit Race last fall and we placed 13th in our first LeMons ever!

Team Zip Tie and El Toro Loco are from the fordbastards crew. Team Zip Tie is the boys from Houston and El Toro Loco are us from Dallas area.

ETL ran the Houston Lemons race in Oct last year. Blew the motor Saturday afternoon. We R&R the motor that night and ran the race on Sunday with a different motor. We won the Most Heroic Fix Award for that race.

Most of the guys from Zip Tie were helping with the pit crew and had so much fun they built their own car.

El Toro Loco plans on running three races this year.
