Please pardon my ignorance on turbos but isn't the pfffft sound the sound of future turbo lag? I thought the purpose Ford recirculates is to virtually eliminate turbo lag for the Ecoboost engines. Has anybody with this mod noticed a difference in that regard? It would seem to me and my research that the boost would take a longer time to build up if you just vented it after the last deceleration. Again, be gentle with me as I truly am curious and want to figure out if this mod does more harm then good.

No not at all. I really can't think of away to explain it to you. I do understand the angle your getting at. Turbo's don't work like that, the BOV is only one part of the turbo system. You a waist gate as well the bypass the exhaust past exhaust side of turbo. Venting to atmosphere is purely noise fluff.

Ok so it appears they both do exactly the same thing and in fact the "recirculate" is in fact a Bov of sorts. So either way the performance is the same and the purpose of the mod is to have the pfffft turbo sound. I think I got it. Thanks!

Recirc means to take the air from the "exhaust" of the bov and put it back into the air inlet piping pre-turbo. Atmosphere means to just let the air go from the BoV into the air - not back into the intake circuit. Remember the BoV are POST turbo, from the factory it takes the hot air post turbos and put's it back in pre-turbo to recompress. By putting it in the atmosphere you get some cool noise and stop blowing hot air into the turbo.
For the ecoboost it's a MAP based or speed density car meaning you can vent to atmosphere, if it were a MAF car where it measure the intake air you can't do that as the computer loses air that it's accounted for causing issues with the tune.
Either way, no power gained from anything BoV related other than at super high HP having the ability to "hold the air in" and not force the BoV from opening due to high pressures/high boost.

Just so I understand, 2 spots are capped and 2 are left open (aka VTA) and the tubing between the two is just tossed?

Rear BOV a to b - b is capped a is vta
Front BOV a to b - b is capped and a is vta

And the K&N filter is for the uncapped "a" vta if so desired or if you are worried about debris falling in the (or up in) the vta?

Sorry, that was the only thing tripping me up from doing this mod. I wash my engine bay regularly and don't want to suck in water, so I am just trying to clarify.

Thanks! Got it and made a few pics for reference for those of us wanting to see a "Before" pic of what to look for. And FYI for those who do not know, the plastic piece that covers the engine (not shown) is held in by 3 rubber tension like pegs. Remove the oil cap and then just pull straight up to remove the big plastic cover.

I was skeptical at first about this mod but decided to try it today since it's completely reversable. I have to say that i actually really like the sound of it! I only did the front because the rear side was almost impossible to get my pliers on, so its not super loud but definately noticable. On light acceleration its not loud at all but definately can be heard when hard acceleration and then let off the gas. Pretty neat mod and I did buy a small breather from O'reilly auto and then capped off the intake side.

1" High Temp cap source

I found a source for 1" High Temp Silicone Caps. Problem isn't price per piece ($1.63 ea.), it's that the minimum order is 10 plus $6.35 s/h (You'll pay $22.65 delivered for only needing 2 of the 10 caps). Only comes in rust color. 1" Diameter by 1.5" long. They also offer a 4" long version (likely the one pictured below). They are used for the powder coating industry, so they are good up to 600F.

Another source, but the design is domed and shipping is $10 for 5 pieces....

Just got my 2013 SHO + PP this past weekend, and started searching for mods/videos/forums yesterday, found SHOForum.com and this thread, and made this modification last night. I love it! I left the rear hose connected to the BOV, and just capped the air inlet and let the hose VTA since it was near impossible to get a pliers on the clamp. Thanks for this quick, easy, and cheap mod - I look forward to wasting many many hours of my future life on this forum!

:thankyou:Finally got the rear one off, at least the intake side and left the hose hang. It's now a little louder and the sound has to be worth at least 40-50 RWHP!!!!
